Bike variant reviewed for: Honda CB Shine

Year of Manufacture: 2014 | Driven no. of Kms. : 12
  • Pros: Extremely smooth Acceleration High ride quality Fantastic Handling and smoothness Good ground clearance It has plenty of power especially in lower gears, though not designed as a sports bike, it can still compete with the likes of pulsar 135,discover 125 ST easily owing to the refined engine. And a city traffic mileage of above 45 kmpl even in the worst conditions is like a cherry on the top of the cake. All makes this bike a very good bike to ride in city conditions. You get more than what you expect.
  • Cons: The bike is solid from the inside, where it lacks is the beauty from the outside. It has simple looks and doesn't attract any attention. The braking though good enough, still feels a little less than required at times. And the worst point of the bike is the suspension, it is just too soft, especially the front. The front bumps easily even on little braking or pot holes. going over a speed breaker is a hectic task on the bike. Another major flaw is the presence of just 4 gears as opposed to the new norm of 5 gears. Streaching the bike on top speeds easily makes u wish for another 5th gear. Considering it is made for city conditions.

Full Review:

It's my first bike .. being in college life and free spirited as i am i wanted a sports bike but my father didn't agree with me and i ended up with CB Shine 2014 . I had low expectations from it and it's looks doesn't lift my spirits either. But BOY OHH BOY!!! when i started riding this thing i realized how wonderful this bike is. The best part of the bike is the extremely smooth and refined engine which barely makes any noise but as you twist the throttle you realize it not as fragile as it seems. Being built for the city the bikes rarely needs to go past 75-80km speed and it takes full advantage of it. The gear ratios are short delivering ample power at all speeds. It is quick and responsive and follows every action of ur fingers fast enough. The fifth gear is missed though when you are above 75kmph and the engine starts to vibrate. It feels stretched there. The tires provide good grip and higher weight of 125 kg provides great stability. The bike ride is a lil high so cornering isn't very good though but it makes up for this flaw by excellent handling. The only down side here is the suspension which cud have been better. The bike has the performance of a sports bike and the efficiency of an everyday commuter. That's why it's the leader in it's segment even ahead of hero or bajaj. If only it had better looks it had the potentional to be a legendary stuff in 125cc segment just like splendor+ is for 100cc segment. If you have to ride just in the city .. this is the bike to go. You wont regret it..!
