Indian Motorcycle Springfield Overview
The Indian Springfield is the latest motorcycle launched in the line-up of the iconic American motorcycle brand and sits in the bagger category of bikes. The name Springfield has been taken from the hometown of Indian Motorcycles in America. The bike carries similar reminiscing design as seen on other Indian bikes. It slots right in between Chieftain and Chief Vintage, also carries the same Thunder Stroke 111 engine as seen on Indian Roadmaster and other bikes from the company. Being one of the costlier motorcycles in the entire Indian line-up, the bike comes packed with a long list of features which makes it one of the most upmarket, feature packed product of its class.
Indian Motorcycle Springfield Engine & Transmission
The bike carries the same Thunder Stroke 111 engine that also powers other motorcycles from the same brand. It is an 1811cc Air/oil-cooled OHV V-Twin engine which churns out 138.9 Nm of peak torque at 2,600rpm while the maximum power output of 73bhp comes at 5,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed/constant mesh/foot shift transmission. The Bore x Stroke ratio of the engine is 101 x 113mm and comes with electronic fuel injection for smoother power delivery. The power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a belt drive mechanism which also helps in keeping the noise and vibration levels to the minimum. This Thunder Stroke 111 engine is known to deliver an extremely smooth and yet exhilarating ride, while it’s roaring thunderous sound announces the arrival much before the bike is in view.
