JAWA Forty Two Overview
Jawa, the legendary two-wheeler brand has re-entered the Indian market with the launch of two new motorcycles – Jawa and Jawa Forty Two. The brand is owned by Classic Legends Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Mahindra and Mahindra. The Jawa Forty Two has been named after the brand and has been priced at Rs. 1.55 lakh (ex-showroom). The delivery of the bike will begin in early 2019. The company has promised that its customers will never be too far away from a dealership.
JAWA Forty Two Styling & Comfort
Jawa Forty Two has retained its retro styling that is sure to turn heads where ever it goes. The traditional round headlight, teardrop fuel tank, double barrel exhaust, spoke wheels and exposed chassis reflect the retro design philosophy, while its small rear fender and the single premium looking seats give it a modern touch.
In terms of dimensions, the Jawa Forty-Two measures 2122 mm in length, 790 mm in width and 1165 mm in height. The wheelbase is 1,370 mm, while the seat height is 765 mm. The bike weighs 170 kg and comes with a 14-litre fuel tank. The motorcycle rides on a 90/90 R18 multi-spoke alloy wheel at the front and 120/85 R17 wheels at the rear.
The bike is available in 6 colour options, including Starlight Blue, Comet Red, Galactic Green, Halleys Teal, Lumos Lime and Nebula Blue.
JAWA Forty Two Performance and Handling
The bike comes with a liquid cooled engine, which provides more efficient cooling for longer rides. The excellent low-end torque of this bike further aids in daily city stop and go traffic. The bike also has an impressive power-to-weight ratio.
For suspension duty, the Jawa Forty Two gets telescopic front forks and gas-charged dual shock absorbers at the rear. The suspensions have also been tuned to offer a good balance between ride quality and handling.

JAWA Forty Two Engine & Transmission
Powering the Jawa Forty Two is a 293 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, engine that produces peak power of 27 HP and 28 Nm of peak torque. The bike uses a modern Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) configuration. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox.
JAWA Forty Two Braking & Safety
Braking duties are handled by a 280 mm single discs brake up front and a 153mm drum brake at the rear. The bike features single-channel ABS as standard.
