KTM Duke 125 Overview
The Austrian manufacturer KTM has launched its smallest bike – Duke 125 in India. It is India’s first 125cc bike with a liquid-cooled engine. The bike is the most affordable offering from the company but also is the most expensive bike in 125cc segment. Bookings for the Duke 125 have already been commenced.
KTM Duke 125 Styling & Comfort
The Duke 125 looks muscular and aggressive. It borrows styling cues from its elder sibling KTM Duke 200. It features split headlamps with projector lights, LED DRLs, striking alloys, and side mounted exhaust which comes with unique three chambers with catalytic converter. The bike uses a trellis-frame which is also found in other KTM bikes.
In terms of dimensions, the bike offers a decent ground clearance of 175mm and come with a total Kerb weight of 148 kg. While the saddle height stands at 820 mm.
The bike features a high quality and ergonomic seat which is comfortable and also durable. The quality of the switchgear and palm grips is top notch. The perfectly positioned footpegs and handlebars reduce fatigue and give the rider a comfortable riding position. The fuel tank is also well designed to hold easily with thighs.
The instrument cluster of Duke 125 has a tremendous amount of information at hand. The fully digital unit tells you everything like the fuel gauge, fuel efficiency, speed, tachometer, two trip meters, odometer, distance to empty, time and even service interval time. Also, its display falls in rider’s line of vision easily.
KTM Duke 125 Performance and Handling
The bike comes with a smooth shifting 6-speed gearbox for optimum power transmission. It will satisfy a lot of buyers who would be using it on the daily commute and in-city duties, with even the occasional long rides. The engine is very refined and gets louder as the revs build. Clutch performs well with very usable soft action ensuring smooth power delivery. The bike feels light and nimble at tight turns and corners.
The bike comes equipped with inverted forks at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear offers a splendid ride quality and well-suited to Indian roads.
KTM Duke 125 What we think
The KTM Duke 125 is a well put-together bike which is high on quality, equipment and performance. The bike competes with the likes of Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, Honda CB Hornet 160R and Suzuki Gixxer range in the Indian market.
KTM Duke 125 Mileage
The company hasn’t revealed the fuel efficiency of Duke 125. Featuring a 125cc engine, the motorcycle should return a mileage of 40-45 kmpl.
KTM Duke 125 Engine & Transmission
Powering the KTM Duke 125 is a 124.7cc, 4 valve, liquid cooled engine, which produces peak power of 14.3 bhp at 9,250rpm and 12 Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. The engine is also equipped with a balancer shaft and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox, which works with the help of mechanically actuated wet multi-disc plate.
KTM Duke 125 Braking & Safety
In terms of safety features, the Duke 125 comes with 280mm disc at the front and 230mm disc at the rear. The bike does offer single-channel ABS as standard for additional braking assistance.
