KTM Duke 125 Overview

The Austrian manufacturer KTM is all set to launch its smallest bike – Duke 125 in India. The launch of this bike seems to be imminent in India as it has been spotted testing on the NH4 highway, near Talegaon Maharashtra. Expected to launch by end of this year, the Duke 125 will be the most affordable offering from the company, but also will be the most expensive bike in 125cc segment. 

KTM Duke 125 Styling & Comfort

The Duke 125 looks muscular and aggressive. The styling of the Duke 125 is inspired by its bigger sibling and range-topping 1290 Super Duke R. The front end of the bike will get split headlamps with projector lights and LED DRLs. The bike is expected to get a side-mounted exhaust similar to the Duke 200 Duke. The bike will come with a lightweight yet stiff tubular frame structure, which will help it to enhance its performance. 

Talking about dimensions, the bike will offer superior ground clearance of 185mm and come with a total Kerb weight of 137 kg. The fuel tank capacity of the bike will be 13.4-litre fuel tank, while the saddle height will be 830mm.

KTM Duke 125 Engine & Transmission

The KTM Duke 125 is expected to be powered by a 124.7cc, single-cylinder EURO-IV compliant engine that is capable of producing 15bhp of power at 9,500rpm and 11.8 Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. The engine would be paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

KTM Duke 125 Braking & Safety

The bike is expected to come with disc brakes on both ends. The global model of Duke 125 comes with ABS system, however, there is no clarity whether the India-spec model will feature ABS or will come with CBS system.

KTM Duke 125 Competitors

The Duke 125 will compete against the like of Yamaha YZF-R15, Suzuki Gixxer and Bajaj Pulsar NS 200.

KTM Duke 125 Mileage

The bike is expected to return a mileage of 40-45 kmpl, which is decent for a performance oriented bike.

KTM Duke 125 Interior

The bike will come with a step-up seat which will be comfortable for rider and pillion. The well-designed handlebar, seat and foot-pegs will offer perfect balance of agility and comfort. The instrument cluster on the bike is likely to be taken from the Duke 200, which has a good amount of info and falls in the rider’s line of vision easily.

When launched, the Duke 125 will be the most range-topping 125cc bike in India. All KTM bikes are offer to handle and the Duke 125 will not be different. Engine of this bike is expected to offer a peppy city performance and impressive highway performance as well. The the top speed of this bike should be around 135 well-designed. The bike will come with a 13.4-litre fuel tank which will give it a good riding range.

Suspension mechanism of the bike will comprise of upside-down forks at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear. They will do a great job at maintaining a balance between comfort and handling.

The Duke 125 would be a perfect for a lot of owners who would be using it on the daily commute and in-city duties, with even the occasional long highway trips. Speculations suggest that the price of Duke 125 might fall in the range of Rs 1 lakh – 1.2 lakh, but KTM will surely try to keep the pricing competitive against its rivals.
