Lohia Genius Overview
Lohia Auto Industries (LAI) launched the Genius e-bike in the country in October, 2011 and it was intended towards the teenagers of Northern India, specifically. It is company's third offering in the electric bike segment in the country, with the first two being Fame and OMA Star who both got strong response from the people. The Genius doesn't require a driving license or RTO registration to ride it and offers as low as 10 paisa per kilometer running cost; incredibly low! Furthermore, this light weight bike is pollution free and noise free as well. The impeccable amalgamation of super sporty appearance and aforementioned running cost is working wonderfully for the company as several buyers have drifted away from the regular petrol scooters and opted for Genius. Lohia Genius is available in three exciting colors - Blue, Yellow and Red. The company has offered the e-scooter with a 48-volt motor and a special VRLA maintenance free 48V, 20Ah battery which propels it to cover a decent distance of 60 kilometers in one full charge at a maximum speed of 25kmph. It takes around 6-8 hours to get the battery completely charged. Ayush Lohia, CEO, Lohia Auto, said, ?We understand the needs of our customers and believe in providing smart mobility solutions. Our Genius electric bike will cater to teenagers, which is still an untapped market. We believe Genius will add significant value in form and function to the electric bike segment and also address the environmental concerns of the automobile industry and the country.? Presented at a highly reasonable sticker price of Rs. 25,495 (Ex. Showroom, Delhi), it is good enough for two individuals. Dimensionally, it is 1825 x 675 x 1020 mm (L x W x H) along with a wheel diameter of 16 X 3 inches. It features a telescopic front suspension which takes care of the bumps on the road and keeps you entirely intact. The company has incorporated drum brakes as the front as well as the rear brakes. The former measures a diameter of 80 mm while the latter has 110 mm diameter. The e-scooter comes with a warranty of one year, while the battery life is 300 cycles which clearly indicates time span of around 2-2.5 years. Although, everything seems to be falling in right place in the Genius, but the maximum speed of 25kmph appears to be a scar in the moon; at least it would have been 45kmph, similar to couple of Hero Electric bikes. "The features that make this e-bike different from others are its more advanced shockers, the ease of putting it on the main stand and of course the low cost at which it operates," Ayush Lohia, CEO, Lohia Auto Industries, added further.
