Lohia OMA Star Overview

Lohia Auto Industries (LIA), the fully owned subsidiary of Lohia Group, introduced the OMA Star electric scooter in the country in January, 2010. The company launched this economical and eco-friendly electric scooter with two variants - OMA Star and OMA Star DX. The OMA Star DX is more of a performance-oriented variant and comes loaded with a much powerful battery capacity of 30Ah as compared to the OMA Star's battery capacity of 20Ah. Although, both the variants possesses a similar top speed of 25kmph but their distance range after full charge differs. The OMA Star DX gets the advantage of heavier battery and can cover up to 80kmph in one go after full charge while the OMA Star can only cover around 60kmph. Both have a BLDC Motor which returns 250 Watts and easily accommodate two person. The input voltage of the motor in both the variants is 48V.
Dimensionally, both OMA Star and OMA Star DX are similar as both of these electric scooters measure 1800 x 650 x 1030 mm (l x w x h). Batteries of both the e-bikes take around 6-8 hours to get fully charged. The OMA Star DX variant boasts stylish alloy wheels of size 16 X 3 inches while the OMA Star variant sports steel wheels of similar size. Lohia OMA Star has been offered with four mesmerizing colors - Macho Black, Fiery Red, Spirited Grey, and White. Front and rear drum brakes are 80 mm and 110 mm, respectively. Both the variants flaunt an array of comfort and convenience features such as Digital speedometer, Large storage capacity, High ground clearance, Telescopic suspension etc. to mention a few. All these feature clearly reflects its value-for-money nature towards its potential customers.
Lohia OMA Star was launched at two different prices, which are - Rs. 25,999 (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) & Rs. 35,000 (Ex. Showroom, Rest of India). It features telescopic front as well as rear suspension in order to provide an awesome ride even on rough terrains. It also has a foot rest for the convenience of co-passenger. The instrument cluster comprises of digital speedometer and low battery indicator. The scooter is quite light in weight as it weighs just 89 kgs. Lohia OMA Star is a self-start electric scooter that consists of a clutch-less automatic gearbox. It is completely made in India product and as seen in Indian scooters whether petrol or electric; the storage box is positioned beneath the long seat. It has a stiff competition from the Yo bikes and Hero Electric bikes but the introduction of the performance based variant and aggressive pricing gives it an edge over the contemporaries.
