Suzuki V-Strom 1000 Overview

The Suzuki V-Strom 1000 is an excellent long distance tourer with great fuel efficiency and safety features like ABS and traction control. The motorcycle is easy to ride and the enormous engine is relaxed. The high saddle height means it is comfortable for taller riders but shorter riders will struggle to get the best out of it. The handling is excellent on smooth highways and is very manageable off-road. It comes with bullet proof built quality, so if it does fall off your hands while adventuring, rest assured nothing will go wrong. Even the looks of the V-Strom are very focused and it exudes its purpose as a go-anywhere motorcycle.

Suzuki V-Strom 1000 Engine & Transmission

At its heart sits a 1,037cc, liquid-cooled, 90 degree V-twin engine delivering smooth low to mid-range performance. It generates 99.2bhp of maximum power and 103Nm of extremely docile torques. The easy power delivery from the V-twin makes it very ideal for highway and off-road riding. The strong mid-range grunt means the bike is fairly relaxed when cruising on the highway at triple digit speeds and Suzuki's Dual Throttle Valve System means fuel burning is done according to throttle demands. The addition of Traction control comes as a boon for handling tricky off-road terrains on the V-Strom. You may turn it off completely if you want to, but the ABS system cannot be turned off.

Suzuki V-Strom 1000 Mileage

Suzuki V-Strom 1000 delivers about 18-20kmpl. The tank has considerable capacity of 20litre which is needed for long-distance touring. And when you push it hard, the fuel efficiency does not take much of a hit.

Suzuki V-Strom 1000 Performance and Handling

The V-Strom rides and handles as you require it to. It is supremely comfortable on long highways and the engine heat never bothers you. Extreme off-road patches are also dealt with ease. The long travel suspension and high ground clearance means it tackles river beds, broke patches and high elevation roads poise. The surprise comes when you lean the V-Strom through tight bends and it reacts like a sport machine. High speed cornering is confidence inspiring and you can achieve considerable lean angles at speeds. Suzuki V-Strom 1000 comes equipped with a well placed headlight with excellent spread and illumination. The motorcycle has an upright riding position with adjustable wind screen.

A Class Bike
Overall rating: 4.75 Reviewed By: (Guest) on 10 Jul 2015
I have ridden this bike around 12,300 kms. This bike is really comfortable for long journeys. It has front inverted telescopic suspensions and rear adjustable mono shock suspensions, which provide utmost comfort while riding. The only drawback is that the fuel efficiency is very low on city roads. Read full review »
