Triumph Bonneville T100 Overview
Triumph Bonneville is the legendary motorbike from the British motorcycle maker that defined freedom on two wheels decades ago. It is named after the famous American mecca of speed, Bonneville Salt Flats. The newest version has gone through several cosmetic and mechanical changes since its introduction in the year 1959. Its sheer ease of use and accessible performance are its main strengths. Bonneville serves as an entry point to the vast Indian lie-up offered by Triumph. This retro styled bike is a sure-fire attention magnet that has a universal appeal. It gets going with the help of a 865cc four-stroke parallel engine and guarantees the smoothest of performance.
Triumph Bonneville T100 Engine & Transmission
At the heart of Triumph Bonneville sits an air-cooled and fuel injected 865cc engine that churns out 60bhp at 7,500rpm and 61.1Nm of peak torque at 5,551rpm. The engine has been mated to a flawless 5-speed gearbox. It is very smooth and vibration is well controlled through its parallel twin configuration. The balancer shafts in the crankcase result in very little vibration through the handlebar. Wet multi-plate clutch performs well with very usable soft action ensuring smooth power delivery. It readily crosses the 150kmph mark with vibrations creeping in only when the rider revs hard in each gear. Ride quality offered by the bike is incredible as the suspension is able to cope well enough with average Indian roads.
Triumph Bonneville T100 Mileage
Bonneville boasts of decent fuel economy returning about 18km to a litre of fuel. It's fuel tank can accommodate 16litre offering a near tank range of 290km. It has the reserve fuel capacity of 2litres so that you are alerted in advance regarding fuel refill. Given that the bike is not a speed monster, efficiency numbers are promising.
Triumph Bonneville T100 Performance and Handling
The performance of this bike is brisk from the word go. The motorcycle has not been designed to break land speed records but it won't leaves you disappointed on the performance front. Handling is good with the 19-inch front wheel swinging nicely under rider's control. The 310mm front disc brake and 255mm rear disc brake responding extremely well and let you have complete control over this beast. The seat has been positioned at just the right height and is large enough to offer complete comfort to the rider. Other factors that make it the easiest bike to live with are upright riding stance and well-placed foot pegs. On road, Bonneville feels lighter than you might expect. Its low and agile stance helps riders manoeuvre it without much difficulty. It has a fake carburettor body that gives it a vintage look. Classic details abound in the simplistic tail light, chrome-rich twin exhausts and in the round headlight. In short, if top speed and track dynamics are not the top priority for you, it could just be the bike for you.
