Triumph Tiger 800XR Overview
The British adventure bike maker, Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled its latest Triumph Tiger 800XR model in India. And going by its pricing (Rs.10.5 lakhs, Ex Showroom, Delhi), this touring bike comes across as the cheapest one and a successor to Triumph off roaders, XRX and XCX respectively. This ride by wire machine boasts of a slew of advanced electronics that makes it not only rider friendly but also meaner in terms of power and torque. Among the many features incorporated, switchable ABS, throttle maps, riding modes, traction control and cruise control embody its state of the art allure. The machine in two colours of Crystal White and Phantom Black sports a dynamic demeanour thanks to its chiselled radiator hood, taut panels alongside the fuel tank and an adjustable cushioned seat. The front fascia has twin tube frame headlamps that accentuate the rugged appeal along with broad handle bars and big tyres (17 inches rear and 19 inches front). Since the bike is characterised as ride-by-wire, features like cruise as well as throttle control go a long way in removing riding stress. The cruise control feature ensures optimal fuel consumption and lessening rider fatigue. Safety has been accorded top priority by incorporating features like switchable ABS, wherein riders can switch On or Off their preferences for ABS depending on the ride mode. Furthermore, the braking system is composed of twin 300mm floating discs along with Nissin two piston sliding callipers (front) and a single 255mm disc along with Nissin 2 piston sliding callipers, respectively. The bike, in the 800cc segment, has competition from BMW F 800 GS and comes with a 24 months warranty on unlimited mileage.
Triumph Tiger 800XR Engine & Transmission
Triumph Tiger 800XR rides on an 800cc 3 cylinder 12 valve water cooled inline DOHC triple motor petrol engine that delivers maximum power of 95PS at 9,250rpm and a peak torque of 79Nm at 7,850rpm. The wheel revs delivered by the engine can reach up to a high of 10,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a six speed manual gear changing system.

This powerful bike with a 19 litres fuel tank capacity is able to garner enhanced fuel economies depending upon its varying speed levels вЂ“ for 90.12 Kmph, the mileage is 27.42 Kmpl and for 120.70 Kmpl, the mileage comes down to 18.96 Kmpl. These figures are about 17 percent higher than its outgoing predecessor, Triumph Tiger 800.
Triumph Tiger 800XR Performance and Handling
Riding this powerhouse has been made easier thanks to its seating ergonomics, besides the presence of state of the art electronics. Handling is made easy as all the parameters of the bike are visible on its illuminated LCD instrument console displaying speedometer, tachometer, odometer, gear position indicator, fuel gauge, ambient temperature et al. Riding on a rugged terrain is made enjoyable due to the presence of a robust suspension system comprising of Showa 4.mm upside down forks at the front and Showa monoshock with hydraulically adjustable preload at the rear.
