TVS Motor Co. Ltd is a subsidiary of the prestigious TVS group. TVS motor is engaged in the production of scooters, mopeds, motorcycles, auto rickshaws etc. in India. Founded by Thirukkurungudi Vengaram Sundaram Iyengar in 1911, this company consolidated its existence in the transportation industry with largely sized fleet trucks, buses under South Roadways Ltd. In 1955, Mr. T.V. Sundaram Iyengar died, after which, the company was taken ahead by his sons with different projects in auto industry like two-wheelers manufacturing, production of auto tools, components and tyres and finance etc. At present, TVS group is managing 33 companies which account for approximately $3 billion combined turnovers.
Relationship Of TVS With Suzuki
TVS shared a long and powerful relationship for 19 years with Suzuki. This relationship was mainly based on technical needs. Under this relation, the company was getting technical support to design and produce two-wheelers compatible with Indian society. TVS Suzuki named this company introduced a number of motorcycles namely Suzuki Shogun, Suzuki Fiero and Suzuki Samurai. After some time, there have been some issues and differences in two that ultimately led this relationship to separation in 2001. At that time, the company was retitled as TVS Motors.
