TVS Akula 310 Overview
The TVS Akula 310 will be the first ever fully faired sports bike from the house of the Hosur based motorcycle maker. The bike is all set to be launched in the Indian market by the 3rd quarter of 2017. The bike has been made using the platform of the BMW G310 R which is yet to be released in the Indian market but has already made its presence in the international motorcycle market. The Akula 310 utilizes the similar engine components, performance setup but a different state of tuning. The bike was showcased for the first time at the 2016 Auto expo but in the concept form, the road version of the same has been spied quite a few times indicating the launch to be near.
Talking about the mileage, it is expected to deliver a fuel economy of around 35kmpl in mixed city and highway driving condition.
Engine & Transmission
The bike will carry the engine inspired from the BMW G310R. It is the 313cc, single cylinder, 4-stroke engine as seen on the latter. It is expected to churn out a maximum power of 35bhp and 28Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. The gears ratios are expected to be different as it being a sport bike, while the G310 R is a naked street bike. The Akula 310 will have longer gear ratios and better top end performance. The engine has been designed and made by BMW-TVS engineers and so it is expected to be flawless and reliable like all BMW engines.
Performance and Handling
The bike is expected to have features such as ABS, multi-function display, LED tail light, USD front suspension, split seats and disc brakes as a standard. The manufacturer might also offer optional heated grips as seen on the BMW G310 R. It’s 313cc engine will feature fuel-injection system that will make it slightly fuel efficient and smoother in terms of overall power delivery.
