Yamaha Cygnus Alpha Overview
Yamaha Alpha is the newest scooter model from Yamaha which was showcased at the auto expo 2014 held at New Delhi. Since its launch, it has received great response from customers across the country. Yamaha Alpha has a simple and sober design yet it manages to look trendy and fresh. Yamaha ahs focused on the male buyers for this scooter model, as opposed to the Ray. The Alpha looks spacious and large, and has several aspects that will surely surprise you.The design is modern and lends a unique feel other than the existing scooters in the Indian two wheeler market. The fascia has a large headlamp unit designed smoothly along with indicators at its front. Weighing in at 104kg wet, the Alpha is a light vehicle that carries a limited set of accessories and tools including odometer, fuel gauge and speedometer.
Yamaha Cygnus Alpha Engine & Transmission
Alpha utilizes a strong single cylinder engine displacing 113cc with 50mm bore and 57 mm stroke. The cylinder head has 2 valves and fueling is done by a carburetor delivery system. This engine puts out 7.0bhp maximum power and 8.1Nm of peak torque. The engine supports CDI ignition and there is 1 spark plug on the cylinder. The engine is air cooled and transmission quality is smooth for this scooter. Its automatic transmission is belt driven and the clutch is wet multi plate for reliability.
Yamaha Cygnus Alpha Mileage
Alpha has Yamaha's Blue Core technology, that enhances combustion efficiency, which results in a decent fuel efficiency figure of 47kmpl. Fuel tank can hold 5.2litre of petrol and you can ride it 240km on a full tank.
Yamaha Cygnus Alpha Performance and Handling
This scooter is able to cope a variety of rough and smooth surfaces found across the country. Be it bumpy and crowded city streets, or twisting back roads, the Alpha delivers. Made of underbone steel pipe chassis and telescopic front suspension and unit swing rear suspension, it offers stable control to riders. Supported by drum front and rear brakes of 130mm dia, this scooter provides adequate braking. The wheel size is 10 inches, and the wheelbase extends to 1270mm. Tubeless tyres on the Alpha provide some puncture resistance. The headlight has a Halogen bulb and maintenance free battery is an added advantage. The scooter is lightweight and has 128mm ground clearance allowing riders easy handling. The seat height is set at 775mm which is ideal for a comfortable riding experience.
