Yamaha R6 Overview
After several years, the leading bike manufacturing company –Yamaha has made some major updates with respect to its ever-classic R6 bike series. The latest Yamaha R6 series in the all-new 2018 model carried a design that has been strictly in line with the flagship model as the Yamaha R1 series. The overall updated designs of the new-gen Yamaha R6 along with modifications to the front end and the braking system have made this bike series a truly excellent-handling middleweight sports cruiser. Owing to the reduced peak power because of the Euro-IV constraints, the given Yamaha R6 series is expected to be a pricey obsession.
Yamaha R6 Engine & Transmission
The Yamaha R6 draws its power from the powerful 599 cc, forward-inclined, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, parallel 4-cylinder, DOHC engine that is capable of producing the power of 118.4 PS at 14,500 rpm along with the maximum torque value of 61.7 Nm at 10,500 rpm. The engine of the bike has been coupled to the 6-speed transmission gearbox.
Yamaha R6 Braking & Safety
In comparison to the older version of the bike, the aluminum frame gets lifted. The fully adjusting forks towards the front & rear ends have been taken from the classic R1 series and now come with 43mm diameter dimensions. The front wheel of the bike features the larger front 320mm disc –inspired from the standard MT-10 series. The radial master cylinders along with the calipers in the latest Yamaha R6 are all new and have been borrowed from the R1 series. ABS is standard.

The strongest rivals to the classic Yamaha R6 include the Kawasaki ZX-6R, the Suzuki GSX-R600, and the Honda CBR600RR bike series.
Yamaha R6 Mileage
The latest Yamaha R6 series flaunts an engine displacement of 599cc along with the claimed mileage return of around 15-20 kmpl. With an overall kerb weight of 190 kg, the Yamaha R6 features the fuel tank capacity of around 17 Litres. Being more attractive and lightweight than ever, the new Yamaha R6 series gets its paint & color inspirations from the classic MT-10 series in the given new avatar. With its recent showcasing at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018, the all-new Yamaha R6 could be expected with its release towards the end of the year on the Indian streets.
Yamaha R6 Performance and Handling
With the engine of the bike remaining virtually unchanged, but with new fuelling efficiency, the bike allows different mappings for each gear to the riders. The bike emerges as a lightweight, brilliant-handling machine that offers enhanced riding performance to the riders. The new Yamaha R6 also receives the advanced D-Mode System of the Yamaha which offers the riders 3 different throttle response maps to choose from on basis of the riding conditions. There is an optional plug-&-play quickshifter available with the bike as well.
