Yamaha RX100 Overview
It was the legendary Yamaha RX100 which started made the enthusiasts excited about riding a motorcycle in India. It was the first performance bike that India saw. It was the first pocket rocket that was launched in India. It was in production for 11 years during the run time from 1985 to 1996. Yamaha had to discontinue the RX100 because of the emission norms that the Indian Government introduced.

The circular headlamp, spoked rims, analogue console and flat body panels meant that the styling of the RX100 was quite simple. The flat seat offered, straight handlebars and front-seat footpegs made RX100 a comfortable motorcycle. Yamaha was really not taking many risks with the design of the bike as they knew that the pricing and the enthusiastic engine may increase the price of the RX100.

Yamaha claimed that the RX100 can reach to 60kmph in just 7.5 seconds and could reach a top speed of 100kmph which was pretty fast for that time. The motorcycle handled like something that our country never saw before. It was light, nimble and agile. It was easy to ride in the city and highways due to its lightweight which was just 103kgs.

As per the users RX100 mileage used to be around 40kmpl. The motorcycle used to come with a tank capacity of just 10.5-litres.
Yamaha RX100 Engine & Transmission
Yamaha RX100 specs included a 98cc, two-stroke motor that was air-cooled. This single-cylinder engine produced a max power of 11PS @ 7,500rpm and a peak torque output of 10.39Nm @ 6,500rpm. This power was sent to the rear wheel via a 4-speed manual gearbox.
Yamaha RX100 Braking & Safety
Braking duties were handled by drums in the front and at the rear which to be honest is not really safe for today’s time. There were no safety types of equipment available with the motorcycle.
