Yamaha Saluto Overview

The new Yamaha Saluto has a conventional commuter design with some Yamaha styling DNA that the bike shares with its cousins. It flaunts a front with an angular headlamp design that gels well with the front cowl.

It has average overall styling with its black theme, 5-spoke alloy wheels, neat engine compartment and suspension springs. The rear has been made sharp with a stylish tail lamp, while offering an overall up-market look and feel which is pretty rare in this segment.
It is a proper 125 commuter motorcycle, and Yamaha thinks that the 100 cc to 125 cc segment is the most important one as it comprises of 83 percent of the motorcycle mass market.

Yamaha Saluto Engine & Transmission

The Saluto gets a newly developed engine from Yamaha. Power comes from a new 125cc air cooled single cylinder engine that has Yamaha’s Blue Core technology. It puts out maximum power of 8.2bhp at 7,000rpm and peak torque of 10.1Nm at 4,500rpm. This compact and efficient engine has been skillfully paired with a 4-speed gearbox.

This engine comes with a compact combustion chamber compared against the previous Yamaha 125 cc engines in this segment. This in turn facilitates in weight reduction and also makes the new Saluto the lightest bike in its own class, weighing at just 112 kg.

Yamaha Saluto Mileage

The new Saluto is very frugal with a claimed fuel efficiency of 78kmpl, and we expect it to return a good 65kmpl easy. The tank can hold 7.6l of petrol giving it range of 490km.

Yamaha Saluto Performance and Handling

The bike is lightweight, compact and efficient. It is quite a performer with good overall riding experience. Yamaha Saluto comes fitted with an efficient suspension system comprising of front telescopic forks and swingarm setup which aids in offering a smooth ride even on bumpy roads.

Stopping duties are done by 130mm drum brakes on both its wheels. Its sturdy diamond frame with a ground clearance of 180 mm offers reliable performance that ensures quality commuting abilities. On the other hand, it is also a great bike in traffic that can be managed well in heavy congestion, and being the lightest bike in the segment it also offers effortless handling.
