Are disk brake must for bikes these days?
Disc brakes are faster in response compared to a drum brake and disc brakes produces lesser braking distance compared to a drum brake, in most of the bikes disk brake is provided on the front wheel because when the brakes are applied the momentum transfer takes place towards front so front braking needs to be more efficient. Drum brakes are not as efficient as disc brakes but they are cheaper so for cost cutting in some bikes drum brakes are used.
As per users experience disk brakes are required for the people who rides on a high speed and mostly on highways for the extra security purpose but for the people who used to ride mostly in the city with a normal speed drum brakes are well sufficient.
