Aston Martin One 77 Overview
What happens when a luxury sports car manufacturer decides to put in all its efforts and time to create a single vehicle that is supposed to serve only a few consumers? And what happens when that luxury sports car maker is none other than the automobile legend, Aston Martin? You have the One-77. A batch of 77 cars was produced by putting the best of resources at Aston Martin to work. And the end result? Concorso d’Eleganza Design Award for Concept Carss, GOOD DESIGN award, Best Design Award by Auto Express and several other accolades internationally. The car also became a staple for many racing games. Auto enthusiasts might recollect the car from the cover art of Asphalt 3D.
What made the car so special over the time is its unbelievable performance and futuristic design. Speaking of design, the profile is exceptionally striking as if it came out from the sketchbook of an art student - the curves, the shift aerodynamic highs and lows are too hard for a car to achieve but Aston Martin is no ordinary car. The car was first showcased at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. I It sports a 7.3-litre V12 engine and a six-speed automated manual transmission. The company kept this car as not just an experimental and concept vehicle but also gave a glimpse at what the design excellence of Aston Martin can look like and it sure looks splendid.
Aston Martin One 77 Exterior
Aston Martin outdid itself with the Aston Martin One-77. Explaining the beauty would be a futile attempt since it cannot be encapsulated in simple words; instead, the vehicle’s laurels are better described individually in an attempt to explain what makes it a truly one-of-a-kind car. The face features the signature Aston Martin front grill with slightly morphed vertical lines. The number plate is positioned on the grill. The side air-vents are placed exactly under the headlamps in a way that they seem to be peeled off the cover of the headlamp. The headlamps show their own luminescent art with varying colour patterns in them. These single Bi-Xenon headlamps come with integrated LED side lights and direction indicators. The impressive bonnet is considerably less curvy than the usual Aston Martin designs. The carbon fibre front splitters, and diffusers at rear offer an intense appeal to the design. The profile, as mentioned earlier, has taken the design innovation to a whole new level. Aston Martin plays with the aerodynamics and visual appeal in such as a way that the lights, shades and shadows overall create a complete vibe which is simply a visual delight.
Aston Martin One 77 Interior
Interiors of the One-77 were attempted to be made as unique as the exteriors. The leather-trimmed sports steering wheel, the electrically-adjustable sporty lightweight seats and the dual airbags in the front complete the vehicle’s visual appeal. The trip computer, glass ECU, LED map reading touch sensitive lights and the front and rear parking cameras complete the interior package of the vehicle. What is to be observed with the car is that its interiors make the driver feel like it’s a spaceship from outer space. It is cosy yet comfortable; it is sleek yet spacious. None of the design elements force the passenger to be squeezed or be uncomfortable inside the vehicle. In fact, it perfectly fits the passenger and driver as if it is custom-made for them. This is what makes Aston Martin One-77 distinct from other cars.
Aston Martin One 77 Engine & Transmission
The beast is powered by a 7312 cc V12 engine with 48 valves. The engine sports quad overhead camshafts and it is front-mid-mounted and the power is sent to the rear wheels through a toughed-up version of the DB9's six-speed automated manual gearbox. The fully catalysed stainless steel lightweight sports exhaust system with active bypass valves allow the vehicle to quietly purr along the city traffic while the decibel level rises violently once the pedal meets the metal.
Aston Martin One 77 Mileage
One-77 is one for performance but is certainly not the most fuel efficient vehicle. The car averages five km to a litre of petrol. That's not a bad figure for a vehicle that can scorch from zero to hundred kilometres an hour in just 3.7 seconds.
Aston Martin One 77 Braking and Safety
Aston Martin One-77 is unique in many aspects. While many try to concentrate on offering flamboyant exteriors while forgetting the crash-worthiness of the structure, Aston Martin has perfectly figured out the right mix of form and function. The carbon fibre structure is light yet strong and the car has been equipped with ventilated carbon ceramic discs with six piston calipers at the front while the rear features ventilated carbon ceramic discs with four-piston calipers. Features such as dynamic stability control, antilock braking system, and electronic brakeforce distribution allow the driver to have complete control over the vehicle. Moreover, emergency brake assist and traction control would do their bit in minimizing damage in unfortunate situations.
Aston Martin One 77 Performance and Handling
What is better than a beautiful vehicle? Having it perform exceptionally well and most importantly have complete control over its performance. One-77 is an undisputed winner in that regard making it a truly exceptional vehicle. This car is immensely powerful - 750 bhp of peak power means that you'll run out of road in all probability before you can summon all the ponies. The car features independent wishbone suspension in both front and rear. Additionally, the anti-dive geometry, anti-roll bar, anti-squat, pushrod actuated coil springs and adjustable bump and rebound monotube dampers, which are electrically adjustable for ride height, give a ride which is second to none.
What do we think about Aston Martin One 77?
Well, what would do you think of a car that cost 12 crores when new and even more when used? if anyone is willing to sell, that is. You are not able to think anything because you are overawed by the sheer magnanimity of everything associated with the car. Supercars and hypercars would come and go but there would only be a handful of specials that would remain forever etched in your memory. The Aston Martin One-77 is up there in that list.
Aston Martin One 77 Competitors
None. The car is a limited-edition luxury supercar. Though it can be technically compared to the Aston Martin DBS or the Ferrari Enzo for that matter but a hand-crafted one-make series is as special as it gets. Again, it is equivalent to Ferrari’s Enzo in terms of what it represents - offering the best of Aston Martin in one vehicle that is. For some lucky mortals, owning such a legendary piece of machinery is truly an indescribable honour.
