Audi A3 35 TDI Premium Plus Description
Audi A3 has been voted World Car of the Year 2014 by journalists from 22 countries. The car has been vehemently popular in India since its introduction. Now to keep it fresh, the company has updated this popular sedan and a new generation model has been introduced. The car is already one of the best-looking sedans in the market and with the new updates, Audi has further enhanced the desirability level. The company has injected a dose of freshness in the A3 with this update and it closely resembles Audi A4.
Audi A3 35 TDI Premium Plus ExteriorAudi has added some new updates to their A3 sedan to make it look in line with their recent design language. The facelifted A3 has received its styling inspirations from the new generation A4. The car looks a bit fresh, thanks to the new cosmetic additions, like a larger hexagonal grille, sharper LED headlamps and daytime running lights. The side profile of the car looks attractive with 17-inch alloys. The rear has been updated with a new bumper and a tail lamp cluster, refreshed LED lighting pattern, and twin chrome exhaust pipes.
Audi A3 35 TDI Premium Plus InteriorThe interior of the 2017 Audi A3 looks much sportier and more premium, though the cabin largely resembles the outgoing model, except for some minor tweaks. The facelift compact sedan has received a new set of seat Milano leather seat upholstery. Seat cushioning is good, while legroom, headroom and shoulder room are very good too. The under thigh support is also good. Space at the front is good but those of you who are seeking rear seat space might have a slight issue. The multifunctional steering wheel feels good to hold, and has numerous buttons to control the audio system and phone. The instrument cluster packs in a lot of info and everything is easy to read. For those frequent travellers who love to carry their world with them, there is an ample of space 425 liter in the boot.
The equipment list consists of features like automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, tilt and telescopic steering, cruise control, parking sensors, leather-wrapped steering wheel, electrically-adjustable front seats with memory function, phone box with wireless charging, electrically-adjustable ORVMs, etc., to name a few. The 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system is a slick unit; it offers bluetooth, USB, CD, DVD and AUX connectivity, and navigation along with voice command system, which can be operated through the steering-mounted controls. The audio system offers excellent sound output. However, we would have also liked if Audi would have put things like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for connectivity inside the car.
Audi A3 35 TDI Premium Plus Engine & TransmissionThe A3 35 TDI is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder TDI unit that produces 141 bhp of peak power and 320 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox, which sends power directly to the front wheels.
Audi A3 35 TDI Premium Plus MileageThe car promises to return a fuel efficiency figure of 20.4 kmpl, which is quite impressive.
Audi A3 35 TDI Premium Plus Braking and SafetyBraking responsibilities are handled by disc brakes on all four corners. The car has received five stars in the EURO NCAP crash test, and has got a total of 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, Hill Hold Control, Traction Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Engine Immobilizer, Remote Central Locking, Speed Sensing Door Lock, etc.
Audi A3 35 TDI Premium Plus Performance and HandlingExcellent ride quality ensures that Indian roads are dealt with ease. The gearshifts are extremely smooth and most of the times, one wouldn’t even realize when the gear changes. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h mark in about 8.2 seconds while it can reach a claimed top speed of 224 km/h. The engine feels torquey throughout low and mid level rev bands with linear power delivery, and you don’t need to shift down frequently to get going. The steering wheel is very precise and guides the whole vehicle to the exact direction that you are looking for.
The suspension deserves a special mention as it does the job very well. Undulations and small bumps aren’t felt by the passengers, and there is no bounciness even at high speeds. The car does stay nicely planted at high speeds and even the tyres have extremely good levels of grip.
Audi A3 35 TDI Premium Plus VerdictIf you want a car that looks good, handles well, is practical, comes with plenty of safety features and also delivers decent fuel efficiency, then the Audi A3 35 TDI Premium Plus surely should be on your list. The car competes against its direct rival Mercedes-Benz CLA.
