Audi A6

Audi A6 premium saloon is not a comprehensively tweaked saloon, in fact it features subtle exteriors styling modifications. Interiors are largely same with a few additional equipments taking the comfort quotient a notch above. Mechanically this A6 is akin to the outgoing version, it draws power from the same robust diesel motor that served in its predecessor.
There is a petrol engine too on offer that is mated to the same seven-speed dual clutch transmission which works in unison with the diesel motor. Similarly, there is no change in the Audi A6 transmission option; it continues to be mated to the seven-speed automatic gearbox.

The first impression of a car is the way it appears on the outside and for A6 it is definitely a charmer. It is not one of those delicate saloons that look flashy from exteriors; in fact the aggressive styling made to the exteriors further accentuates the robust essence of the sedan. The first look at the sedan will make you hopelessly in love with it, all thanks to the bold front facet.
The hood is wide and the two vertical hood lines flowing from the edge of windscreen to the radiator grille typifies the sporty character of the saloon. Use of chrome is done generously; the large pentagon shaped radiator grille featuring multiple chrome bars and the iconic four rings appears bullish. The chrome surround on the radiator grille renders it a neat finish. The agile Matrix LED head lights in front are inspired from the Audi A8. There are short creases on either end in-between the space between head lights and lower bumper.
Drop to the lower end of the bumper and you will notice fog lights, air intakes and a hint of chrome that looks sporty. Side skirts too have been modified, it gets sportier. View from side is relatively sober as compared to front. The chrome finished outside door handles are way too plush, while the outside rear view mirror has to settle with the body matching colour. It gets power folding and adjustable functions along with integrated turn indicators. The large wheels ornate by multiple spoke alloy rims perfectly balance with the metal mass above it. A thin chrome lining carefully outlining the window frame adds charm to the side profile. Moreover, the sharp beltline running from C pillar right to the edge of the hood spells command. Hop to the rear to notice new tail lamps, exhaust pipes, tweaked bumper and a chrome strip placed on the lower edge of the boot lid. A slide and tilt all glass sunroof lends exquisiteness to the saloon.

Wheelbase measuring 2912 translates into a capacious cabin which offers comfortable head room, should space and knee room to the passengers sitting in front as well as rear. Audi A6 pictures of the interiors give a sneak peek into the sumptuous cabin styled tastefully. Dual tone colour scheme envelopes the cabin and wood inserts on dashboard educe elegance.
Chrome work has been done amply inside which lends a premium feel to the cabin. Gizmos tucked inside include Bose surround sound, MMI navigation system, parking system plus, 4-zone deluxe automatic air conditioner, Milano leather upholstery, MMI touch, driver information system with colour display, Audi driver select, Bluetooth interface, Audi release function and reversing camera. The centre armrest comes with two-cup-holders, a net is provided in the luggage compartment for securing on the lashing points on the compartment floor. Two 12 V sockets are present in the rear for charging and other purposes.

Underneath the engine hood is the same 2.0 litre, four cylinder, in-line diesel motor with common rail injection system. The engine is capable of pumping out pinnacle power of 190 PS between 3800 to 4200 RPM along with peak torque of 400 Nm between 1750 to 3000 RPM. Petrol variant is powered by the 1.8 litre, four cylinder, in-line petrol engine with direct fuel injection, turbocharging and Audi valvelift system.
The petrol motor is tuned to churn out maximum power output of 140 KW between 4200 to 6200 RPM along with pinnacle torque of 320 Nm between 1400 to 4100 RPM. Both the engine works along dual clutch a seven-speed S-Tronic automatic transmission. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a two-wheel drive system.

ARAI certified claimed fuel economy for the A6 diesel version is 18.53 kms in a litre which is very impressive for a humongous premium saloon. And the petrol version of the premium saloon can pull off 15.26 kms in a litre.

Safety is taken care of, the large saloon gets a handful of safety equipments like an anti-lock-braking system, hill-descent control, electronic stabilisation control, Audi pre sense basic, electrochemical power steering and eight airbags.

Performance delivered by the A6 saloon is simply impressive; the saloon gets an adaptive air suspension which helps bettering the performance. The diesel powered A6 hits 100 kmph from stand still within 8.4 seconds while the petrol version hustles to 100 kmph from rest in just 7.9 seconds. Audi A6 top speed for the 35 TSFI variant is 233 kmph,
which is insignificantly more than the 35 TDI Matrix version at 232 kmph.

Interiors are done tastefully, the sumptuous size offer great space for passengers in front, though it is not very comfortable for rear passengers. There is a wide variety of equipment
inset inside, the comfort is a prime concern when it comes to an Audi and A6 is no exception. Compared to the rivals A6 might not offer a robust range of engines like before but the one employed under the hood does its job pretty well. Overall A6 is a taker and it is a viable option in premium saloon segment.

In its segment, the saloon is going to fight with rivals like BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Jaguar XF. Like other Audis, this one too offers a wide range of features inside the cabin, similarly on the safety front it gets some very prominent features vouching for the safety of occupants. Pricing is yet another pro for this long beauty.
