Audi Q3 Overview
Audi Q3 is now offered in 2.0 Litre TDI diesel engine’s dual powering optionsi.e. the TDI Quattro and the TDI S Edition respectively. The 2.0 Litre TDI Quattro diesel engine of the Q3 gets a 7 speed S-tronic automatic gear-box while its 2.0 Litre TDI S Edition is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. The power and torque churning figures from both the trims are phenomenal. The 1968 cc TDI Quattro motorproduces maximum power of 174.3 bhp at 4200 rpm and maximum torque of 380 Nm at 1750 – 2500 rpm, while the 1968 cc TDI S Edition motor churns maximum power of 138 bhp at 4200 rpm and maximum torque of 320 Nm at 1750 – 2500 rpm. Both the 2.0 Litre TDI Quattro engine with AT and the 2.0 Litre TDI S Edition with MT are mechanized appropriately by the German engineers to return decent mileage i.e. 15.73 kmpl and 17.32 kmpl respectively (as per ARAI).
The Q3 face-lift outshines when it comes to acceleration, pick-up and handling. The 174.3 bhp Quattro TDI engine with 7 speed S-Tronic transmission is an excellent performer on roads and can take a sprint of 0 – 100 kmph in just 8.2 seconds with its top speed being 212 kmph, whereas the 138 bhp TDI S Edition motor with 6 speed manual transmission can cross speed range of 0 – 100 kmph in just 9.9 seconds with its top speed being 202 kmph. In addition, the Q3 offers easy manoeuvring through the responsive power steering that enables it tackle city conditions with ease. Moreover, the passengers can experience the flawless ride with the set of front McPherson Strut and rear 4 – link suspension system.
Audi Q3 Exterior
Despite being an entry level crossover in the Audi’s stable, the Q3 comes with exteriors that house premium features like Xenon plus headlamps, Chrome surrounding front grille along with Chrome badge, Front fog lights, Aluminium alloy wheels, ORVMs with Power adjustable + Heated + Power folding and Auto Dimming ORVMs with LED turn indicators, Panoramic roof and Chrome surrounding windows. Added to this, the extended and curvy hood with creases at the edges and delicate bulges at the wheel arcs make it a sophisticated urban crossover.
The Q3 35 TDI Quattro variant is equipped by 17 inches Cast aluminium alloy wheels surrounded by 235/55 R17 size of tubeless tyres, while the Q3 30 TDI S Edition variant gets 16 inches alloy wheels encircled by 215/65 R16 size of tubeless tyres. These broad tyres not only augment the cosmetic charm of the car but also ensure fine road grip even while driving at high speed.
Furthermore, the exterior of this compact SUV is also blessed with fine quality paint to give it a premium look. The auto-maker has offered this luxury crossover in different colour shades that include – Cornea white, Floret Silver, Mythos black, Misano Red, Utopia blue and Tundra Brown.
The Q3 is not as big as its elder siblings, but still its appearance on roads looks gigantic. The designers have tried to make it possibly large despite of its limited dimensions. The car measures 4388 mm in length, 2019 mm in width and 1608 mm in height. It also gets a sufficiently large wheelbase of 2603 mm and has ground clearance of 170 mm as well. Besides, this sturdy machine carries kerb weight of 1660 kilograms.

Despite falling in the compact crossover category the car maker has wisely created adequate space inside. Both the front and rear cabins offer sufficient legroom, headroom and shoulder width to accommodate comfortably. Added to this, the front row seats are offered with height adjustment feature which ensure better road visibility and premium level comforts. Space for luggage storage is also in abundance as the company has offered it with a boot space of 460 litres which can be further increased by folding the rear seats. Moreover, leather wrapped seats and leather covered steering wheel in the 4-spoke design are additional luxury factors of the Q3.

The Q3 retains the same 2.0 Litre TDI diesel engine that is mechanized through the excellent combination of turbocharging and direct injection that not only enables it with superior driving dynamics but also ensures better fuel efficiency. The 2.0 Litre TDI 35 Quattro diesel engine delivers mileage of 15.73 kmpl, while the 30 TDI S Edition diesel mill returns mileage of 17.32 kmpl (As per ARAI).
Audi Q3 Braking and Safety
Furthermore, for the first time, the Q3 compact SUV comes equipped by aHill Decent Control for additional control while driving on terrain conditions. For passenger care and car security, it also comes loaded with features such as Airbags (Driver frontal airbag, Driver side airbag, Front passenger frontal airbag, Front passenger head airbag, Front passenger side airbag and Rear passenger side airbags), Child proof locks, 3-point inertia-reel seat belts for all seats, Seat belt reminder and Side-on collision protection.
Audi Q3 Performance and Handling
While driving, the Audi Drive Select feature is another speciality of this car which allows the car to run on any of the three modes i.e. Comfort, Auto and Dynamic. Usually, the drivers would love to drive on the Comfort mode which makes the steering wheel light and softens the suspension set up. For those who look for speedy expeditions and race tracks, the Dynamic drive select will does its best. Not to forget that suspension system of this SUV is highly responsible and soaks all the bumps and pot holes efficiently. Furthermore, the gearbox is very light to handle and offers gear shuffling effortlessly and when used with the paddle shifters there is no time lag. While driving on high speed on the Dynamic drive select the body roll is minimal that makes this compact SUV a great machine to drive.
