BMW 1 Series Overview
Bridging the gap between the supremely luxurious and mass segment vehicles, premium auto makers in India came up with a brainwave of inducting an entry level segment in Indian market that still fell in the premium bracket. BMW’s 1 Series hatchback is one such entry level luxury car that wears BMW badge but is priced considerably less than other vehicles in the portfolio. Hatchbacks are the first love of Indian buyers that are still in huge demand and seeing the undying demand for these petite wagons, luxury auto makers are now offering premium hatchbacks in their India line-up. For BMW, 1 Series is one of the breakthrough models that made it increase its customer reach in domestic market.

What do we think about BMW 1 Series?
In our opinion, if budget is not something that bothers you and you want to have a variety of premium cars in different body styles, this is a good option for you. As for those who are looking to upgrade to a BMW badge from a not so premium one than look around as there are other options too that cost around the same. So essentially, this hatch is for those who are luxury conscious and are looking for a premium hatchback stuffed with top-notch goodies and ample space on offer. One thing that it gets right is the high fuel economy so the running cost is not going to be much. Also the performance is admirable so paying this much for a German badged car may not pinch as much.
BMW 1 Series CompetitorsPremium hatchback segment does not have many options presently, just a handful of options mean the best in the league will have the advantage over the rivals. Frankly, this segment also does not have many takers at the moment as there are crossovers and sedan out there wearing the same German bagde as these hatchbacks and are available at almost the same price or maybe a little less or more. As for the direct competition in D segment hatchbacks, Mercedes A Class, Volvo V40 , BMW Mini Cooper and recently added Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione are included. As for the looks go, BMW 1 Series faces a stiff competition from Mercedes Benz A Class. Equipment wise,Fiat Abarth 595 lags behind the competition, however it is one of the most powerful performers in the segment. Offering a good space inside, BMW 1 Series has a lavish cabin which is a pro.
