BMW M4 Reviews(33)
The BMW M4 coupe truly lives up to the legends offered by BMW that I have owned before. The car feels quite light on the contrary to what it looks like as they have used carbon fibres in many components including the drive shaft. It is a much more visceral and engaging car than the BMW M3 I owned...

BMW M4 OverviewThe newest member of the BMW M line-up of performance coupes, and it is every bit of a legend as the ones that preceded it. Power comes from a 431-hp twin-turbo inline six-cylinder, mated to a paddle-shifted seven-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. In a mission to shave weight, many of the M4’s components are made of carbon fiber—including the driveshaft. A car that can be considered as the Iconic and just upgraded BMW M3 more sportier and stylish sibling. Originating from the BMW 4 -Series Coupe, which was created with an intention to replace the current 3 Series coup? with a new 4 series line to further differentiate the more sporty coup?. The M4 replaces M3 Coupe and M3 Convertible models. This car comes with a M Carbon roof providing a lower-slung look, decreases weight and hence the centre of gravity, and is capable of 0-100kmph in 4.1 seconds. The car also arrives with the latest BMW Connected Drive services, consisting of all the electronic wizardry BMW has developed over the years.Upgrades over the standard 4-Series include more powerful and responsive engines, improved handling, suspension, and braking systems, aerodynamic body enhancements, and interior/exterior accents with the tri-colour "M" (Motorsport) badging. Get behind the wheel and prepare for explosive performance and the M division’s renowned handling capabilities.
BMW M4 ExteriorStylistically, the new BMW M4 offers the same core proportions and characteristics as the 4-Series. A bump on the hood hints at the extra power underneath, while a much more aggressive and aerodynamically effective set of body work at the nose, sides, and tail give it a track-bred look. Flared fenders wrap around larger wheels and grippier tires, and there's even a carbon fiber roof that along with reducing the overall weight and increasing performance also makes the car look absolutely mean, brutal and powerful. The Aerodynamics efforts of M Division are clearly seen on the AirCurtains and M gills with Air Breathers on the front wings, an integrated rear spoiler and diffuser in the rear apron.
BMW M4 InteriorThe redeveloped M seats with their shell shape and illuminated M logo await the driver and front passenger the moment you enter the cabin. They offer perfect side stability and a clever use of ergonomics enables a direct connection between driver and vehicle. All control elements in the cockpit are orientated around the driver and guarantee highly precise operation in split seconds. A round instrument display in a racing car look, M leather steering wheel and M gear shift lever finish off the package and leave no room for doubt. The BMW M4 Coup? was created to redefine barriers.
Inside, the M4 is a bit closer to its standard 4-Series counterpart, though the M Division touches continue throughout the cabin. M badges, upgraded sport seats, M-specific controls for the electronics, and racier-looking carbon fiber trim add to the high-performance look and feel of the M4's cockpit. The hallmark BMW M Division elements greet you from the inside. The seats are one piece shell at the back derived from racing bucket seats. Then there are the usual M entry sills, M Gearshift lever and you pretty much get a car worthy of legendary M title.
BMW M4 Engine & TransmissionThe engine is a three-litre six-cylinder in-line petrol engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology. The engine displaces, mouth watering 431 hp and a astronomical torque rating of 550 Nm. The M4 comes with BMW M Dual-clutch transmission with Drivelogic, which happens to a be a system specifically designed for the BMW M high revving engines. It enables extremely fast gear changes without any loss of traction.
BMW M4 MileageWith a car designed specifically to give an already fast executive class model go faster, and having 431Hp to show for a report card, it shouldn't come as a surprise that it give 10.5 kmpl.
BMW M4 Braking and SafetyA car that weighs around 1500 kg and that has power figures like 431hp and 550Nm of torque which is enough to propel the car from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.1 seconds needs to have some pretty nifty braking and safety features. The BMW M4 has carbon ceramic brakes with all the driving safety aids BMW could throw at it. The list goes on and on and on like, 8 Airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), DSC, MDM, etc.
BMW M4 Performance and HandlingThe M4 coupe hits 60 mph in 4.1 seconds with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. With a sky-high rev-limit of 7600 rpm, the M4's top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph. Putting that power to the rear wheels is an electronically controlled Active M limited slip differential, which can vary the percentage of lockup between the rear wheels from 0 to 100 in mere milliseconds.
Maximizing the new powertrain, BMW has lightened up the M4's chassis as well. With aluminium hood and fenders and carbon-fiber reinforced-plastic bits, the end result is a car that's about 80 kg lighter than the previous M3 coupe, at just under 1500kg. While a conventional suspension (M-tuned, naturally) is standard for the M4, an Adaptive M suspension is available. Offering dynamic adjustment to damper settings for a wider range of comfort and sportiness, the Adaptive M system can range from Comfort to Sport to Sport+ modes. The electric power steering system has the same settings, adjusting the weight and feedback accordingly.
The result is a car that loves quaffing long uphill runs at the horizon with gusto, shaving a hundred miles per hour undramatically off with the carbon-ceramics, settling firmly and predictably into uphill 30-degree bends without a knee bent. It's tough to call this M a sports car, but few grand tourers come closer to touring-car grip and balance.
What do we think about BMW M4?Quite simply there is no weak point with the BMW M4. Prodigious performance – and noise - from that twin-turbo six-cylinder, a ridiculously good chassis, astonishing driving technology for enthusiasts and to-die-for looks inside and out – the team in Munich has missed nothing.
Every M3 has traditionally been a contender to be the best-of-the-best in its era. That’s right about the M4 too, each old one was a world-beater and the which replaces the M4 coupe and the Cabriolet worldwide, just about sticks to this tradition without sweat.
