By: Lukesh on 19 july 2014
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R features 1.0L engine delivering power of 66PS. Beat features 1.2L engine delivering power of 81PS. Beat is more stylish car as compared to Wagon R and also powerful too. Wagon R has advantage of wider service network than Beat and also has comparatively better resale value too. Further, spares cost of Wagon R is higher than that of Beat. Considering overall parameters, Beat if available with a genuine price tag is a worthy selection.

Actually, both the cars have their plus and minuses. The Beat offers a better interior and exterior styling package with a bigger 1.2 Ltr. engine. Beat looks more hip to current market trends whereas the Maruti WagonR looks boxy and outdated in style. The Pre 2010 versions of WagonR carry the more old-school look. However, the mileage and legroom are the areas where WagonR scores better than Chevy Beat. The after sales service and spares part availability is also better for Maruti cars. However, if you are getting both the cars in same price and both have clocked same kilometres, I would suggest you to opt for Beat.
Major difference between these two cars is the price range. Therefore, in the used car market, Maurti Suzuki Wagon R will cost cheaper. If price is not a major factor then next thing to consider is the engine. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is available as Petrol and CNG whereas in Chevrolet Beat diesel variants are also available. Since Chevrolet Beat is slightly more premium than Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, it comes with better features.
Major things to consider while buying a used car are model year, kilometres run and servicing history of the car. If both cars are in good physical health, then go for a car with more features and lesser kilometres run. Chevrolet Beat is a fuel efficient car and can be a better choice as it will definitely offer more features than Maruti Suzuki Wagon R. Final choice depends on budget and need.
The Beat offers a better interior and exterior style parcel with a bigger 1.2 Ltr. engine. Beat looks trendier to current market tendency whereas the Maruti WagonR looks boxy and obsolete in style. The Pre 2010 versions of WagonR carry the more traditional look. However, the mileage and legroom are the areas where WagonR scores better than Chevrolet Beat. The after sales service and spares part availability is also better for Maruti. However, if you are getting both the cars in same price and both have clocked same kilometres, I would suggest you to opt for Beat.
