Fiat Panda Expected Preview

Fiat India who have sustained in the country for a long time now, with just two product offerings - the Punto and the Linea is mulling to expand its portfolio with more products. The Fiat Panda, which has been the best-selling supermini in the European markets is one such product that the Italian automaker could introduce in the Indian market very soon. However, supermini is a segment that is not very popular in the country. That said, the Fiat Panda, which is now entering its third-generation has been modified to become to bigger, roomier and safer, making it a more practical and viable product for Indian customers. Dimensionally, the new Panda is 66mm wider that the out-going model, which means that the hatchback can easily accommodate up to 3 passengers on the rear bench.

Fiat Panda Expected Exterior

The front fascia looks very appealing and it has bi-xenon headlights, rectangular fog lights, and large oval grille with slightly curved design. Body colored bumpers, door handles and ORVMs also help in giving it a sporty appearance. The side profile flaunts 15-inch alloy wheels, which look classy and the muscular haunches and protective plastic cladding giving it an aggressive personality. The car measures 3680 mm in length, 1670 mm in width and 1600 mm in height along with a wheel base of 2300mm. The rear profile is highlighted with a beautiful vertical tail-lamp cluster.

The cabin is spacious and the high roofline means that there’s plenty of headroom in the rear and up front there’s also lots of space for driver and passenger. The dashboard has a nice layout with a very prominent centre console housing. Seats offer a good view of the road ahead and all round visibility is superb, thanks to the large windows. The multifunctional steering wheel is sporty and has mounted control. There are decent amount of storage spaces inside the cabin to keep the car clean and tidy. The boot space at the rear end is adequate for your shopping bags and groceries. However, exact interior features are yet to be revealed the company but it might sport automatic climate control, multi-functional steering wheel, touch-screen infotainment with navigation, height adjustable power steering, electric powered ORVMs etc.

Fiat Panda Expected Engine & Transmission

Under the hood, expect to see a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine. In the international markets, the Fiat Panda is offered in three trim levels: Pop, Easy and Lounge. If the Panda arrives in India, it will go head to head with the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Brio, etc.

Fiat Panda is quite easy and comfortable to manoeuver in thick traffic and on narrow roads. The engine is very refined and the NVH levels are well within control. The car expected to take 14-15 seconds to accelerate 0-100 kmph. The top speed should be around 160-165 kmph. The steering wheel offers decent feedback, it is light and easy to operate at low speeds and weighs up nicely as the speed increases. Ride quality on the Fiat Panda is fantastic and the car has no qualms in tackling bad roads. It has Mcpherson Strut as the front suspension and Coils Spring as the rear suspension, which absorb pot holes on the road reasonably well.
