The starting range and mid-range variant of the Punto series is fitted with a similar engine which has MPFI system and can deliver a mileage form 12.3 to 15.8kmpl. While the slightly powerful top end ‘fire’ engine delivers 11.8kmpl in city traffic and 14.4 on expressways. While the diesel versions all has same engine and can run 20.3kmpl on highways and 17.1kmpl in city, also the sportz version despite being tuned for higher power and performance delivers the similar mileage.
Fiat punto Evo is the facelift version of earlier generation Fiat Punto. This refreshed version comes in both petrol and diesel variants. It has two engine options in petrol i.e. 1172 CC and 1368 CC and the diesel version comes with 1248 CC engine. Aforesaid petrol engines hasbeen rated by ARAI to give a fuel efficiency of 15.8 Kmpl and 14.4 Kmpl. Similarly, the diesel engine is slated to give an output of 21.2 Kmpl. However, in the real world conditions, one can expect the petrol version to give around 10-11 Kmpl in city and 13-14 Kmpl on highways whereas the diesel version can be expected to give 13-14 Kmpl in city and 19-20 Kmpl on highways
The one front where Fiat Punto Evo disappoints its buyers is the fuel efficiency. Especially the petrol variants have not been tuned to be frugal. Both the 1.2 Ltr. and 1.4 Ltr. petrol engines manage to give only 9-10 Kmpl in city and around 13-14 Kmpl on highways. The diesel motors have somewhat nicer performance. The ARAI rated efficiency of 1.3 Ltr diesel mills is 21.2 Kmpl. However, the diesel version gives not more than 13-14 Kmpl in city. On highways, diesel punto manages to give around 18-19 Kmpl. However, the actual fuel efficiency very much depends on driving habits and traffic conditions.
The new Fiat Punto Evo is available with a diesel engine and two petrol engine options. Its diesel variant comes equipped with Fiats renowned multijet diesel engine which is well known for its high performance and excellent mileage. It delivers around 20 kmpl mileage on highways and around 17 kmpl in city. On the other hand, its entry level petrol variant which comes equipped with 1.2 Liter MPFI engine gives 13 kmpl mileage in city and 16 kmpl on highways. While the high end petrol variants which have got 1.4 Liter FIRE petrol engine gives 12 kmpl mileage in city and 15 kmpl on highways.
Fiat cars are very well known for its high performance engine which offers perfect combination of power and mileage. Its both petrol and diesel variants gives very good mileage with impressive mileage and the vehicle never vibrates even at the speed of 120 kmph. Even the pick up of the Fiat Punto Evo is very good, just put you leg over the accelerator and within few seconds you will find yourself above 100 kmph speed.
If you are looking for good mileage, I would suggest you to go for Maruti Suzuki Swift. Its both petrol and diesel variants gives excellent mileage. Its petrol variants which are equipped with the 1.2 Liter K12 petrol engine delivers 15 kmpl mileage in city and around 20 kmpl on highways. On the other hand, its 1.3 Liter Multijet diesel engine delivers 20 kmpl mileage in city and 25 kmpl on highways. Apart from this, its maintenance cost is very low, resale value is very good and it has already proven its performance on the Indian roads in last decade.
If we are talking about the super hatch segment, how can we forget the new Hyundai i20 Elite. Its refreshed design with the sport and aggressive appearance makes it the best car in this segment. Though, its mileage is not as good as Maruti Suzuki Swift but it is better than Fiat Punto Evo.
Fiat Punto Evo comes with a high powered 1.2-litre, 8V FIRE, 1172cc petrol engine (approximately 1.2 liter in the Fiat Punto Evo Active) churning out maximum power of 68bhp @ 6000rpm and peak torque of 96Nm @ 2500rpm. This means a fairly adept or medium mileage of 14.4kmpl. However, other factors may hamper this figure either positively or negatively like driving habits and engine running or dormant state actions. Its usually advisable to switch off ignition at traffic stops.
Fiat Punto Evo has a 1248 cc engine which delivers a max power of 90 bhp at 4000 rpm and a max torque of 209 Nm at 2000 rpm. The car is available in both petrol and diesel variants. On the other hand, its entry level petrol variant which comes equipped with 1.2 Liter MPFI engine gives 13 km mileage in city and 16 km on highways. I own a Fiat Punto Emotion which was delivering 21 – 22kmpl on highways and 17-18kmpl in the city. There has been a sudden drop in the average and now I’m getting around 15kmpl on highways. I have changed the air pipes and filter but the problem still continues. What is the possible reason and how can I rectify it?
