Force Gurkha Xplorer 3 Door Reviews
Worst all time experience
The car is missing on safety features but is a good off-roader.
Force Gurkha Xplorer 3 Door Description
Force is known across the globe for creating some of the best off-road vehicles. The new Gurkha Xplorer revives an old name but everything about the new model is fully up-to-date. It looks sporty and truly exhibits its off-roading character. The company has managed to give it a rugged look with a lot of off-road attributes. The new model is truly unmatched.
Force Gurkha Xplorer 3 Door Exterior
The new Gurkha Xplorer is leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessor in terms of exterior styling. The front profile looks very muscular with the wide grille extending towards the headlamps. The company logo is fitted at the center of this grille that further enhances its appeal. The car comes with a factory-fitted snorkel, which aids the water wading capacity and keeps the engine intake clean.
The side profile looks bold and the black cladding adds a touch of ruggedness to the car. The large 210 mm ground clearance is really excellent for off-road adventures. It features Apollo Hawkz tyres, which further enhance its off-road drivability. The company has also given a full size spare wheel, which is affixed at the tail gate.Force Gurkha Xplorer 3 Door Interior
Moving to the interiors, the Gurkha Xplorer has a smart-looking cabin with nice use of colours. The seats are very well shaped, and offer good comfort and support. Legroom and headroom are pretty decent. The view of road is commanding as you sit high up. Ingress to the rear is pretty easy with a simple mechanism that folds the front seat backrest. Although plastic quality was about average on some interior bits, overall Force has done a pretty good job with the quality and built of new model.
The dashboard won’t leave you fascinated but it’s neatly laid-out design is soothing to look at. The hard top now comes with the option of a manual AC unit. The AC cools well but there are no rear AC vents. The instrument cluster displays all the required information in a way that is easy to the eye.Force Gurkha Xplorer 3 Door Engine & Transmission
Under the hood, the new Gurkha Xplorer equips a 2.6-liter, 4-cylinder, Inline, TCIC Common Rail, diesel engine sourced from Mercedes that develops a peak power of 85 bhp at 3200 rpm and peak torque of 230 Nm at 1400 - 2400 rpm. Mated to this engine is a G1-18 5-speed manual transmission with high and low gear ratios. Drive is sent to all four wheels, making it a capable off-roader.Force Gurkha Xplorer 3 Door Mileage
We can expect a mileage of 11-12 km/l, which is quite respectable, from this off-roader.Force Gurkha Xplorer 3 Door Braking and Safety
The braking system leaves you with no complaint as its front disc brakes and rear drum brakes offer good amount of stopping power, and the brake pedal bite is ideal for you to judge the desired distance to stop the hulk.Force Gurkha Xplorer 3 Door Performance and Handling
Gurkha scores high on the ride and handling department. It is a brilliant car for off-road driving condition and its ladder frame design adds on to that. The 4WD system boasts of differential lock on both front and rear axles for muddy and undulating terrains. The car performs exceptionally well with punchy low down performance. Although the 5-speed gearbox won us over for its slick and accurate action, clutch engagement could be smoother. NVH levels are pretty good and vibes are very few.
On the suspension front, the Gurkha Xpedition gets Independent with Solid Torsion Bar with Hydraulic Telescopic Shock Absorber and Anti roll bar at the front while the rear sports Semi Elliptical Leaf Spring with Hydraulic Telescopic Shock Absorber and Anti roll bar. The suspension is simply brilliant; it can soak up just about any bump, sharp edges and all. The suspension setup is stiff to negate body roll. The new Apollo tyres offer better grip and don’t lose traction quickly.Force Gurkha Xplorer 3 Door Verdict
The current Gurkha Xplorer has improved in leaps and bounds over the predecessor. Although it doesn't meet BSIV norms, it can be let off as this vehicle has been developed for off-road driving and not for cities. If you are looking for an off-road car that looks attractive, performs brilliantly and comes under the ex-showroom price tag of Rs. 10 Lakh, then Force Gurkha Xplorer is just the car for you.
