Chandan Seetharam (Guest)'s review on Honda Amaze E MT Diesel
Year of Manufacture : 2014 | Driven no. of Kms. : 28500
- Pros: Great Mileage, excellent service and Honda care. Extremely powerful, zippy and fast. Lots of space - in the cabin and boot. Excellent turning radius. A great drive all around.
- Cons: Dull interiors. Not exactly an audiophiles car - you can't fit rear door speakers and the rear speakers have to be less than 5.25 inches. The factory fit music system is lousy. Low ground clearance - though you can off road a bit and by and large, bad roads are not an issue. Gearbox feels a bit "clunky."
After 28,000 KM of driving in less than a year, and having experienced the service - both free and paid, I can stand testament that this car is amazing, indeed! It makes for excellent driving, and the Earth Dreams iDTEC engine is very powerful - with 100 BHP, the control and cornering is spectacular and the ABS is a dream when you need to brake and still remain in control. The mileage is fantastic. City driving returns 17.5 - 19 KMPL, and on the highway, if you are not zooming at 150 KMH, and stay within 100, you can expect mileage figures of 22-25 KMPL, and thats no lie. The car is really one of the fastest on the highway, and you can make almost all the usual cars - the swifts, innovas, tatas eat your dust. The car does come with an engine cut off that kicks in at 150 - and reaching 150 is very easy on the car, with RPM of only 3500, well under the red zone of 4000. Even at 150 KMPH, you don't feel unsafe, and the car responds very well to everything. Read a lot of reviews about the car drinking water during the monsoons and stalling - it never happened to me. Drive sensibly during the monsoons, and you are safe. Service is not expensive, and is very good. On the whole, a superb car to own and drive.
