1. What are the engine specifications of Honda BR-V?
Honda BR-V is available to the customers in 3 engine models- diesel with manual transmission, petrol with Manual Transmission (MT) and petrol with Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT). The diesel model has a 1498 cc, 4-cylinder, 16-valve, DOHC i-DTEC engine that generates a maximum power output of 100 bhp @ 3600 rpm and a maximum torque of 200 Nm @ 1750 rpm. Both the petrol models are equipped with a 1497 cc, 4-cylinder, 16-valve, SOHC, i-VTEC engine generating a maximum torque of 145 Nm @ 4600 rpm and maximum power of 119 bhp @ 6600 rpm.
2. What is the fuel efficiency of Honda BR-V?
The performance of Honda BR-V in the fuel efficiency segment depends on multiple factors like road conditions, traffic conditions, use of the brakes and the clutch (in manual transmission), maintenance of the car, and how frequently the vehicle is driven. Honda claims that the MT variant of the petrol model has a fuel efficiency of 15.4 kmpl, the CVT variant of the petrol model offers a fuel efficiency of 16 kmpl while the diesel model has the highest efficiency of 21.9 kmpl.
3. What is the seating capacity and boot space available on the BR-V?
The Honda BR-V offers a seating capacity of seven passengers being the first vehicle to have this configuration in its segment. The boot space available is 223 liters when all third row seats are upright and can be expanded to a whopping 691 liters if the third row seats are folded down.
4. How is the car’s performance in the acceleration department? Does it offer cruise control?
The diesel version of Honda BR-V, the 1.5 l i-DTEC can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 11 seconds while its petrol counterpart, the 1.5 l i-VTEC accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 10 seconds, both accelerating to a top speed of 160 to 170 kmph. As an added bonus, cruise control is available on the Honda BR-V.
5. How does it rate in the passenger and driver safety department?
All variants of the Honda BR-V are equipped with Antilock Braking System (ABS) and dual front airbags as standard safety equipment. 8. I am planning on buying the CVT version. Is it safe?
Yes. The Continuous Variable Transmission system installed in the car is properly tested and is completely safe. The only difference between this system and manual transmission is that you can see and change the gears yourself in the latter one while CVT does the job for you.
