Honda Civic Preview

Civic was discontinued in India in the year 2013 following poor sales. Worldwide, Honda sells the 10th generation Civic in various body forms - Coupe, Hatchback and sedans. India may get only the sedan. The D segment sedan now looks more aggressive and futuristic than ever before. Sales in India remain lukewarm, Honda is confident that market is ripe this time and company expects to make the most of it this time. Civic would be a positioned between the City and Accord.

Honda Civic Interior

Civic inspired all of us when it was first launched in India and was much ahead of its time. It has only grown in that sense. Much like the futuristic theme that car has on the outside, it would incorporate the same design elements inside as well. Technology-rich is expected to offer paddle shifters for the automatic variants alongside tech bits like valet function, easy read-out central display for easy accessibility. Leather-wrapped, ventilated seats with power adjustability, soft-touch plastics all around with chrome elements are expected to be other highlights of the cabin.

Honda Civic Engine & Transmission

While nothing is certain but since the car is expected to follow a CBU route, we expect it to offer same engine options as sold in other markets - a 1.5 litre turbo diesel along with 2.0 litre normally aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol. Petrol motor is likely to offer a choice of 6 speed manual and CVT transmission.

Honda Civic Mileage

The Honda Civic mileage can be expected around 17kmpl for the turbo petrol version and 23kmpl for the diesel version. 1.5-litre petrol may offer a figure around 15kmpl. The actual mileage can vary depending upon the performance factors and country-specific modification that the car may undergo before the launch.

Honda Civic Braking and Safety

In terms of safety, you can expect features like ABS, dual airbags, EBD, electronic brake etc. as standard. Higher variants are expected to offer much better equipment in the form of 6 airbags, ESC (Electronic Safety Program), Other innovative features like Lane Watch, wireless charging, 10-speaker audio system, Cruise control, Collision mitigation etc. are expected to be a part of the car as well.

What do we think about Honda Civic?

Price of the Honda Civic price can anywhere around Rs. 15 to 18 lakh for the manual transmission versions and the automatic transmission version would cost around Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). If everything goes as planned, Honda may be ready to launch the car around the festive season. It’s expect to make way into India around the month of September.
