The Ssangyong is the Korean car manufacturer which was recently acquired by Indian SUV giant Mahindra. And the first roll out is the Rexton. The car features a 2696cc diesel powered oil mill producing 152bhp power and 367Nm torque. The engine comes with both automatic and manual transmission and runs 12.7 and 11.5 kms in a litre respectively. The Vehicle sports a no. of features like rain sensing wipers, electronic stability program, Active roll over protection, ultrasonic warning system, six airbags which is highest in the segment. And differing from Honda counterpart, the CR-V can seat 7 people comfortably, aligning it with Mahindra standards. The car is also cheaper but can be costly to own due to its new venture. Style wise it scores in the frontend because of its chrome flooded parts whereas rear is unexciting but functional.
Mahindra’s Ssanyong Rexton competes against Honda CR-V with both having competing features and specs list. Ssanyong Rexton rides on a powerful diesel powertrain displacing 2696cc and garnering maximum mileage and torque figures of 152bhp and 367Nm, respectively. Honda CR-V on the other hand does not have any diesel powertrain and its two petrol engines of 2.0 litres and 2.4 litres displace 1997cc and 2354cc (with automatic transmission). On comparing the specs list, Mahindra Ssangyong seems better placed in terms of its superior engine performance.
Honda is a Japanese company while Ssangyong is a Korean company now taken over by Mahindra. There is a sharp difference in the quality of Japanese and Korean cars. The CRV beats the Ssangyong hands down with its design language, interiors and impeccable performance. Although the Ssangyong runs on a diesel engine while the CRV runs on a petrol engine, Honda's won the race this time.
