Which car is better between Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo in terms of maintenance, service cost? Also is there any issue with the diesel variant of Honda Jazz and which variant is better for Polo?

Polo is good in terms of built and ride dynamics, its engine produces better power and torque figures compare to Jazz’s engine, its gear box is also smoother and has a good punch throughout the rev range. NVH levels are also better controlled in Polo, the vibrations and engine noise is very well contained, but, apart from built quality and performance the polo doesn’t have anything much to offer but Jazz has a lot to offer in terms of utility, space, lower maintenance cost and better fuel efficiency, it follows the footsteps of previous Honda cars of same class. I would suggest taking the test drive of both.
There is no issue with diesel variant of Honda Jazz, but NVH levels could have been better although engine feels very refined, gearbox also offers smoother shifts, it has a good low end punch, the ARAI certified fuel efficiency of this car is around 27 kmpl; it is fun to drive and doesn’t feel underpowered.
Choosing between diesel or petrol version of Polo depends on your monthly usage, so, in my opinion if your monthly usage is more than 1200-1500 kms, go for the diesel Polo else go for petrol version, the basic logic is to have the extra cost of a diesel car recovered from the savings in fuels over the period of ownership or the usage over the ownership.
