Honda Jazz Overview

Honda’s reborn Jazz gets several updates, including design changes on the outside and a spruced-up cabin stuffed with equipments for making it snugger. Despite underpinning a new platform and embodying various styling changes, the Jazz is evidently reminiscent of the older one, which implies that the basic silhouette of the premium hatchback remains unchanged. Though, quite contrary to it, Jazz’s version still has a lot on offing, which was missing earlier and keeps your interest alive in it. One of the most prominent changes made to the nose is the front grille that meets seamlessly with the headlights, thus making it appear like a single unit. Also, the strong beltline stretched until the tail lights accentuates the side profile and renders the much-required assertiveness to the hatchback.
Honda Jazz Overview
The cabin offers generous space. That said, it is undoubtedly one of the most spacious hatchbacks in the B segment, offering ample leg room, head space and shoulder space even to the passengers sitting at the rear. A host of features have been embedded inside, totally complementing the large cabin space and hence upping the practicality of the cabin. Honda Jazz Overview - Photo
One of the other major additions made to the new Jazz is the availability of a diesel unit in the model series, which was missing earlier. The 1.5-litre i-DTEC has been put on duty other than the 1.2-litre petrol motor. There is also an option for a CVT gearbox along with manual transmission available only on the petrol variant. The Honda Jazz line-up comprises total 12 variants, including 5 manual trims in petrol and diesel guise each, and 2 CVT variants offered on the S and V petrol trims. One of the reasons behind the failure of the older version was the Honda Jazz price, which, despite various revisions, could not lure Indian customers. Hence, this time, the company has placed the price of Honda Jazz in India very smartly.

Honda Jazz Exterior

Evaluating the pictures of Honda Jazz exteriors, it is clearly evident that a lot has changed on the outside. Though, the version still has some similarity with the predecessor. The headlights equipped at the front have strong resemblance to those in the City.
Honda Jazz Exterior
The multi-element grille seamlessly meets into the head lamps, which appears very delightful to the eyes. Fog lights are placed carefully on either end of the front bumper, along with air intakes. Outside rear view mirrors and outside door handles are also painted in body colour. Wing mirrors also get the electrically-adjustable function. The alloy wheels ornate the side profile of the hatchback, hence rendering a neat look to the exteriors. Among the most noticeable changes, the strong beltline originating from the front door and stretching up to the tail lights is included. The rear features 3D-effect tail lights, reflectors and a broad chrome strip that runs across the length of the tailgate.

Honda Jazz Interior

Cabin space is generous, allowing five adults to be accommodated comfortably. The front as well as rear sides of the hatchback offer ample space. There are nine cup holders inside the cabin, which makes it a very practical cabin in terms of usage.
The magic seats affixed in the rear can be folded flat, flipped upwards and split whenever required. Besides, the seats can be used as a recliner by pushing the front seat backrest fully. Honda Jazz Interior
Unlike the previous model, the Jazz gets advanced features aboard, like a 5-inch colour screen for the rear-view camera, infotainment system with a 6.2-inch touch screen, touch-operated panels for climate control system, and steering-mounted controls for audio and telephone functions. Other comfort features aligned inside are power windows, tilt steering, audio system with Bluetooth, height adjuster for the driver’s seat and paddle shifter available only in the CVT variant among others. For storing luggage, a 354-litre of boot is on offing.Honda Jazz Interior - Photo

Honda Jazz Engine & Transmission

In addition to the previous 1.2-litre, i-VTEC petrol motor, the Jazz is also available in the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine option.
The 1.2-litre petrol motor has been tuned to generate 88.8 bhp of maximum power at 6000 RPM and top torque of 11.21 kgm at 4800 RPM. Honda’s 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel power train, on the other hand, promises to deliver maximum power of 98.6 bhp at 6000 RPM, along with pinnacle torque of 20.39 kgm at 1750 RPM. Honda Jazz transmission options available on the petrol motor include a five-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. The diesel motor has been linked to a six-speed manual transmission only, giving a skip to the CVT tranny.Honda Jazz Engine & Transmission

Honda Jazz Mileage

Honda has worked on the fuel economy of the rebooted Jazz. The petrol manual version of the hatchback is claimed to return ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 18.7 kmpl. On the other hand, the CVT petrol variant can run up to 19 kmpl. Jazz with a diesel heart is the most frugal of all, capable of offering an excellent fuel economy of 27.3 kmpl.

Honda Jazz Braking and Safety

Disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear have been fitted to provide the stopping power. Anti-lock braking system, along with electronic brake force distribution, has been set up in the Jazz S CVT and diesel trims only. Dual front airbags are available in the SV trim and the others placed above it. Among the secondary safety features, central locking, driver seat belt and key reminder have also been put in place to perform their respective duties.

Honda Jazz Performance and Handling

As for the performance, the diesel engine is not as impressive as the petrol one, particularly the petrol CVT variant. That said, the diesel motor isn’t dull but lacks the punch that is present in the petrol-powered Jazz, though the diesel motor does offer good driveability and yields better performance on the highway.
