Honda Jazz E Petrol Expert Review

Honda Jazz E Petrol is the entry level variant in the Jazz’s range. What will make you prefer Jazz over the rivals is the generous space it has on offer and affordable price range with good mileage numbers. However, exteriors lack some of the features that can be witnessed in the other trims placed above the base E. Similarly, the cabin also lacks a lot in terms of features. Powered by the 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol engine, the manual variant gets the conventional five-speed transmission working in unison with the gasoline motor. In comparison to the S trim which is also available in CVT option, the E variants lacks on a couple of things such as high black gloss finish on the front upper grille, chrome embellishment on the front lower grille, R15 size tyres, trim wheel, body colour matching outside door handles and body coloured outside rear view mirrors. Also the sporty black sash tape is missing in the E trim. Inside the cabin the silver finish is absent unlike Jazz S. On the feature front, features like integrated audio with 5 inch screen, Aux-in, USB, I-Pod/I-Phone, AM/FM Radio, MP3/WMA/AAC, hands free telephone, audio control on steering wheel, four speakers and accessory socket have been left out from the entertainment section. Besides, the height adjuster for driver’s seat, electrically adjustable function for ORVMs, central locking and keyless entry, rear parcel shelf, cargo light and two additional grab rails are bereft in base E grade.
  • Honda Jazz E Petrol Exterior

Exteriors are sporty and fashioned in typical Honda style that said, the Jazz has a number of styling bits that sets it apart from the rest in B segment. The design remind of the fact that it is indeed a Japanese make. In the front, Jazz E gets sporty sleek head lights and rear features premium LED tail lights standard across grades. Front upper and lower grill are drenched in black finish, while the rear license garnish gets black gloss finish. Outside door handles and outside rear view mirrors are painted in black and the antenna is placed in the front centre. Features deprived in E trim include sporty tail gate spoiler, rear wiper and washer, alloy wheels, trim wheel, turn indicators on ORVMs and front and rear mudguards.
  • Honda Jazz E Petrol Interior

One of the USPs of Jazz is the lavish cabin; space on offer specially at the rear is extravagant. Beige coloured fabric upholstered seats are in line with the beige fabric door lining insert. Rear gets bench type seats with back folding function; it also comes equipped with integrated adjustable head rests. Silver finished inner door handles look elegant and the black finish gear knob appears sombre. Among the instruments, a standard multi-information combimeter with Blue illumination, fuel consumption display, tachometer, single trip meter, illumination light adjuster and one touch lane change indicator have been equipped. As for the comfort goodies are concerned, the base trim gets an air conditioner with heater, dust and pollen filter, power tilt steering, power windows in front as well as rear, interior light, a clock, footrest and one grab rail. Being the basic trim, many features have been omitted such as advanced multi-function combination meter with LCD display and blue backlight, eco assist system with ambient rings on combimeter, instantaneous fuel economy display, outside temperature display, cruising range, leather wrapped steering wheel and silver finish on various bits. Nothing has been included from the entertainment segment which means no touch screen, no integrated audio system, steering mounted controls, on board navigation, accessory socket and speed volume compensation. Magic seats are also absent in the base trim also the rear seats lack reclining feature. One of the segment first features like auto AC with touchscreen control panel has been left out along with a couple of other vital features like electric folding and adjustment functions for ORVMs.
  • Honda Jazz E Petrol Engine & Transmission

Petrol powered variant of Jazz E gets the 1.2 litre i-VTEC gasoline motor, the engine features four cylinder, 16 valves and the SOHC technology. Good for atop power of 90 PS at 6000 RPM and peak torque of 110 Nm at 4800 RPM, the petrol mill is paired to a five-speed conventional transmission.
  • Honda Jazz E Petrol Mileage

Fuel economy promised by the petrol manual Jazz E variant is around 18.4 kmpl which is decent enough.
  • Honda Jazz E Petrol Braking and Safety

Braking system involves disc brakes in the front axle and drum brakes have been placed in the rear axle. Jazz E petrol gets minimal safety features like immobilizer, driver seatbelt reminder, say/night rear view mirror, LED high mount stop lamp, key off reminder and single type horn.
  • Honda Jazz E Petrol Performance and Handling

The petrol manual version is agile and performs well in the city as well as on highway.
