Honda Jazz S Diesel Description
With the removal of the E trim, the S grade becomes the entry level trim by default. The new base trim is available only with the diesel engine, missing out on the petrol engine. That said, it derives power from Honda’s tried and tested 1.5-litre, i-DTEC oil burner, which comes paired to the conventional 5-speed manual unit. Placed before the mid-spec V trim in the Jazz’s line-up, the Honda Jazz S comes bereft of some features that are offered with other trims in the carline. With this, the Honda Jazz S price is relatively lesser than the higher-spec grades.
Honda Jazz S Diesel ExteriorWith no design and styling change, the Honda Jazz S looks same as the previous version. It gets sporty sleek headlamps at the front and premium LED rear tail-lamps at the back. The signature rear LED wing lights and front fog lamps, rear wiper and washer, alloy wheels, turn indicators on ORVMs, chrome door handles and black sash tape are missing.
Honda Jazz S Diesel InteriorThe Base diesel S trim gets the 8.9 cm integrated audio system with AUX-in, AM/FM, radio, MP3 and iPod connectivity. It gets Bluetooth for audio streaming and handsfree telephone support. There is just one USB port, four speakers, accessory socket and audio controls on the steering wheel. An armrest is equipped in the centre, and features such as air conditioner with heater, power steering with tilt function, power-adjusting ORVMs, central locking, etc., are standard. Comfort features, such as one push start/stop button, are missing.
Honda Jazz S Diesel Engine & TransmissionThe Honda Jazz S trim is available only in the diesel option. That said, it gets Honda’s 1.5-litre i-DTEC oil burner, which puts out the maximum power of 99 bhp against the peak torque of 110 Nm. Transmission duties are carried out by the conventional five-speed manual unit.
Honda Jazz S Diesel MileageAvailable only in the diesel option, the Honda Jazz S gets Honda’s fuel-efficient 1.5-litre diesel engine, which comes paired to the 5-speed manual unit and is claimed to return 27km/l in ideal conditions.
Honda Jazz S Diesel Braking and SafetyThe safety feature list on the Honda Jazz S includes dual front airbags, anti-lock-braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, speed-sensing auto door lock, day/night inside rear view mirror, driver seatbelt reminder, driver side window one touch up/down with pinch guard, rear window defogger, LED high mount stop lamp and key off reminder engine immobilizer.
Honda Jazz S Diesel Performance and HandlingOn the performance and handling front, the Honda Jazz S is identical to the pre-facelift version as it continues to use the same 1.5-litre oil burner along with the 5-speed manual unit that powered the pre-facelift version.
Honda Jazz S Diesel VerdictHonda has shied away from giving cosmetic and mechanical updates, keeping it strictly a feature update. With a rejig in the model line-up, Honda Jazz is the new entry-level trim, which is available only with the diesel option. While it gets more feature rich, the model has become a tad pricier as well.
