Overview

Hyundai Eon Magna+ Sports Edition Description

Eon is the most affordable Hyundai offering, and has been targeted at upwardly mobile and younger buyers - those who may be choosing their first vehicle or upgrading from an entry-level hatch. Despite being an affordable car, it looks a lot better than all of its rivals, thanks to the striking design. It is a very practical car for city traffic conditions. The car competes with India’s highest-selling Maruti Suzuki Alto.

  • Hyundai Eon Magna+ Sports Edition Exterior

The car looks more elegant and premium than any other car in its segment. The hatchback is 3.49 metre long, with an overall width of 1.55 metre and standing 1.5 metre tall. The ground clearance of 170 mm is ample for Indian roads and the car doesn’t scrape its underbelly on the worst of speed breakers. Hyundai has implemented its fluidic styling philosophy on this car as well. The front profile is clean yet attractive with a hexagonal grille extending towards the headlamps. Many may mistake it to be the i10 at first glance. It gets sweeping headlamps, making the front fascia very strong. The well-designed wheel arches enhance its side profile and the body line flows along flawlessly, which gives it a modern look. The rear end boasts of a roof-mounted spoiler and a vertical tail-lamp cluster.
  • Hyundai Eon Magna+ Sports Edition Interior

The cabin feels roomier than the Alto. The seats are comfortable, and there is enough space at both the front and rear; however, under-thigh support could be better, and headroom is quite limited too. The overall quality, fit and finish feels good, and there is good attention to detail inside the cabin. The hexagonal theme from the car’s frontal styling is carried over to the dashboard as well. There are decent amount of storage spaces inside the cabin to keep the car clean and tidy. The 215-litre boot is useable and can be enlarged by folding the rear seat backrest down. The AC is really powerful and cools the cabin in no time.
The instrument cluster is simple to read and offers basic information such as gear indicator, trip meter, low fuel level warning, etc. The audio system comes with 2 speakers, and offers input options such as USB/AUX/CD and sound output is good.
  • Hyundai Eon Magna+ Sports Edition Engine & Transmission

Hyundai Eon Magna+ SE is equipped with a 3-cylinder, 814 cc engine. In essence, the 1.1-litre motor that powers the i10, minus one cylinder, gets a counter balance to keep vibrations in check. The peak power output is 55 bhp and peak torque output is 75 Nm. Mated to this engine is a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox.
  • Hyundai Eon Magna+ Sports Edition Mileage

Hyundai Eon Magna+ SE delivers 21 km/l as per the ARAI-certified figures. As per our assumption, the car should be able to deliver around 16-17 kmpl in the real-world conditions.
  • Hyundai Eon Magna+ Sports Edition Braking and Safety

The car gets disc brakes up front while the rear gets drum brakes. Braking performance is good and the car is able to shed speed with a load of confidence; however, there is no ABS offered on the Eon even as an option.
  • Hyundai Eon Magna+ Sports Edition Performance and Handling

Hyundai Eon is aimed for city driving and serves the purpose decently. The clutch itself is very light and so shifting gears requires less effort. The hatch manoeuvers well enough through the thick city traffic and narrow roads. Straight line stability is good too and the car remains composed on the highway. However, the steering could have been made a bit more responsive. The car uses MacPherson struts at the front, which work in agreement with a torsion beam suspension at the rear. The suspension setup is pretty nice and absorbs the majority of bumps; however, larger obstacles at higher speeds do make their presence felt.
  • Hyundai Eon Magna+ Sports Edition Verdict

With the Eon, the Korean car manufacturer has offered a very competent and practical city car. The drivability is excellent for city commuting and high fuel efficiency figures are definitely a boon for people travelling during peak office hours. The car competes against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto, Kwid Standard, etc.
