It is best to compare a petrol and a diesel variant of Hyundai Xcent that falls within the same price bracket. Thus, let us choose 1.1 CRDi S Option (Diesel) and 1.2 Kappa SX Option for the comparison as the average price of these variants are 7.1 lacs and 7.2 lacs respectively. Now if you consider the mileage then the diesel version will always be a step ahead in comparison to petrol variant as it gives 18.9 kmpl within the city and 24.4 kmpl in the highways. On the contrary, the petrol variant gives 15.7 kmpl within city and 19.1 kmpl in the highway. While both have the same fuel tank capacity and transmission type, the engine displacement of diesel variant is 1120 cc and the petrol variant is 1197 cc. The power of the petrol version is more as it features 81.86bhp@6000rpm and the diesel version features 71.01bhp@4000rpm power. However, the torque of the diesel version, which is 180.4Nm@1750-2500rpm, is greater than the diesel version, which is 113.75Nm@4000rpm. The front and the rear suspensions, steering types, turning radius of the steering columns and the shock absorbers have same specifications. Again, the top speed of the diesel version is 156km/hr and it takes 18.6 Seconds to reach from 0 to 100. On the contrary, the petrol version has top speed of 172km/hr but has accelerates to 100 kmph within 14.2 Seconds.
A comparison between 1.1 CRDi S Option (Diesel) and 1.2 Kappa SX Option will suggest that besides greater mileage and rate of acceleration that the diesel version of Hyundai Xcent offers, there are certain comfort and convenience options in the petrol version that you will not get in the diesel variant. Among them includes rear Power Windows, Automatic Climate Control, Remote Trunk Opener, Smart Access Card Entry, Engine Start/Stop Button and Glove Box Cooling option. Similarly, the petrol variant also scores over the diesel version in terms of specifications of the interiors like the Leather Steering Wheel and Engine Start/Stop Button. The security features of the petrol version are also more in comparison to the diesel version with specifications such as Driver Airbag, Passenger Airbag, Crash Sensor, and Rear Camera.
