Jeep Compass is an excellent SUV to buy and it is one of the most popular SUV not only in India but globally.
Talking about performance, the Compass engines are very refined, smooth and peppy at high revs. Power delivery is smooth and there is good low-end grunt for city driving. Both petrol & diesel engines are very quick to make progress, they have a fantastic punch in all parts of the powerband – low, mid and top. The 6-speed gearbox is precise and offers great feedback while the clutch is light, making it easy to drive in city conditions. The steering feel and feedback is also quite impressive. The ARAI claimed mileage of Compass is 17.1 kmpl but you can expect a mileage of 13-14 kmpl in real world conditions.
Suspensions of compass soak up the larger bumps reasonably well and offer excellent ride quality in the city. At high speeds also it can pretty much run over bumps and potholes without getting unsettled. The body roll is very well controlled for SUV standards and it feels eager to push hard around the bends. The SUV does stay nicely planted at high speeds and even the tyres have extremely good levels of grip.
Talking about the durability, so my personal view is that all the cars of esteemed brands like Hyundai, Honda, Suzuki, Jeep etc. are very durable, if they are driven with care and maintained well with the periodic service schedules recommended in their owner’s manual.
