    The Korean carmaker KIA Motors is planning to launch seven models in India – Picanto, Sorento, Sportage, Rio, Niro, Optima and Cerato. We expect the new Kia Picanto to be the first model to be launched in India from the company. The KIA Picanto is expected to have an impressing design, flawless performance and comfortable interiors. If media reports are to be trusted, the company is planning to establish its first production plant in Anantpur district in Andhra Pradesh.KIA Picanto Preview

    The KIA Picanto exterior will have a very smart fascia. There will be many appealing bits, such as a stylish hexagonal grille treated in gloss black material with chrome surround, swept-back headlamps, smart-looking bonnet and the fog lamps, which will be placed very conveniently in the especially-designed dams; all of these design elements will add a sporty character to the hatchback's appearance. KIA Picanto specifications for the side profile will include well-designed wheel arches, ORVM-mounted turn indicators and stylish alloy wheels. The rear will get wrap-around tail lamps with LED inserts for the indicators. Dimensionally, the car will sport 3595 mm of length, 1595 mm of width, 1485 mm of height and 2400 mm of wheelbase.     The KIA Picanto interiors are expected to be quite appealing and would certainly attract a number of buyers. The dashboard of the third-generation KIAPicanto will be all new, vastly improved and uplifting the ambience of the cabin. The leather upholstery on the seats and dash will lend a sense of class to the cabin. The artificial leather upholstery and stitching are expected to be offered with a choice of five colours: High Gloss Black, Brown, Blue, Red and Lime. All the seats will have excellent cushioning with legroom and headroom being in plenty. The sporty multifunctional steering wheel will have mounted controls. AC is expected to do a fine job of keeping the cabin cool.     KIA Picanto Engine & Transmission

    Kia Picanto features may include a 7-inch Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system with a very responsive touchscreen, Apple CarPlay connectivity and features such as navigation system, rear parking camera display, etc. The instrument cluster will have a nice high resolution display, showing all the required information in a way that is easy to the eye.
    Kia Picanto will be based on the same platform as the Grand i10. It is believed that the car would be launched in both petrol and diesel guises for the Indian shores; however things are not clear yet. Engine options might include the same 1.2-litre Petrol and Diesel units that power the Grand i10. The engines might be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed auto box.

    The company would probably offer Picanto with a reliable braking system, wherein its front wheels may be fitted with disc brakes and the rear ones may have sturdy drum brakes. The car is expected to come blessed with a range of active and passive safety features in the Indian market that would comprise of Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, six airbags (front, front side and curtain), central locking system, seat belt with pretensioners, and many more features to ensure maximum safety of the occupants.

    KIA Picanto Performance and Handling

    KIA Picanto is expected to be great for city driving and would be driven with utmost ease on medium speeds. The ride and handling balance of Picanto is expected to be well matched. The car will come with McPherson Struts up front and Torsion Beam at the rear. With great suspension set-up, most of the potholes, broken patches of road, etc., should be tackled easily.

    KIA Picanto Competitors

    Upon its launch, the KIA Picanto will rival its own cousin, the Hyundai Grand i10 along with other models like Tata Tiago, Maruti Swift etc.

      Kia Picanto expected launch date is not confirmed yet as some say it will launch in the 2nd quarter of 2019 while some suggest that it will launch in late 2020. Nothing is confirmed as of now, hence it is advisable to wait till it any announcement being made by the Kia officials.   Read More
