KIA Seltos Engine & Transmission

The Kia Seltos specifications will likely include 1.5-L petrol and 1.5-L diesel option. It is not certain that Kia Seltos will be offering BS6-compliant engine, but it could have a BS4-compliant at the launch. Both engine options will be available with an automatic transmission and a manual transmission. It will be a bit surprising to see the Seltos in AWD as some have the 4WD badging in the spy photos suggest the same. Additionally, Kia Seltos Sportier trim will come with a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine, capable of producing a max power of 140bhp. The engine will be paired with a 7-speed DCT and paddle shifters.

KIA Seltos Mileage

Since the model is expected to carry over Creta’s mechanical set-up, the Kia Seltos mileage is likely to be same as of Creta. Although, we still need to wait till the ARAI-tested figures are revealed.

KIA Seltos Braking and Safety

Braking responsibilities will be managed by disc units at the front and drum brakes at the back. The Kia Seltos safety features will have a driver side airbag, co-passenger airbag, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist and a 360-degree view camera.

KIA Seltos Performance and Handling

Likely to be powered by the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines powering Creta line-up, we expect Kia SP to deliver somewhat similar performance as its Korean cousin.

What do we think about KIA Seltos?

Though Kia Seltos is expected to borrow some underpinnings from Hyundai Creta, MG Hector and Hyundai Venue with respect to engine and features, we expect it to have a distinct identity in the Indian automotive industry. It will be a surprise to see how much the Kia brand is going to impress Indian aspirants.
