Mahindra Cars

Mahindracars were one of the very first Indian players to foray into the mobility segment back in 1947. In recent years, Mahindracars in India have shown considerable promise, especially in the SUV and MPV segments, which have witnessed an upward shift in India over the recent years. The brand boasts of an impressive range of vehicles, which includes the Iconic Mahindra Scorpio and Bolero, and recent additions, such as Mahindra Verito, Xylo and the popular KUV.

Mahindra Cars in India

Mahindra XUV500

If you have a look at the Mahindra cars price list in India, you will find that XUV500 is the most expensive model from this brand. Mahindra XUV500 completed 6 years in 2018 and has undergone 3 updates, the latest being the most significant one. It has undergone a facelift in terms of a new and massive one-piece grill, diamond-cut alloy wheels, all new tailgates, and a large spoiler. The interiors of this Mahindra car feel more premium, and come in a tan and black combo with generous use of leather. It has enhanced safety features, including 6 airbags, a sunroof and a smartwatch-based control system. The 2.2-litre M Hawk engine with a 6-speed auto/manual gearbox is also an improvement over its predecessor.

Mahindra TUV300 Plus

Another facelift of a Mahindra car that made way into the Indian market recently is the TUV300 Plus, which boasts of 16-inch wheels replacing the 15-inch ones. Apart from the bigger third-row seat (with quilled Matt finish leather upholstery) and a bigger engine, no significant change has made its way to create an appeal to the buyers. Exclusion of automatic climate control, and absence of Apple Car play and Android Auto also make it difficult to justify the Mahindra car price tag of Rs. 10.98 lakh.

Mahindra Scorpio

The success of Mahindra cars in the automobile segment can be partly attributed to the iconic Scorpio, which remains a cash cow for the automobile giant to date. Hence it was not surprising that Mahindra decided to give it a much-needed facelift to increase its appeal. Just like the XUV500, it has received a massive grill at the front, and also has a redesigned wheel, chrome inserts around the fog lamps and a spoiler. Functionally, the suspension has undergone a big improvement along with the improved brakes, which feel a lot more punchier and provide above average feedback, which helps the driver to be more sure footed. On the inside, not much has changed, except for the new 6-inch touch screen infotainment system. Its engine is same as that of the TUV300 and the high-end version has 140 bhp of power, which develops 320 Nm torque and is a jewel of an engine, which delivers a fuel efficiency of 14 kmpl. However, the absence of traction control, ESP and EBD in spite of a hefty price tag of Rs. 15.2 lakh is completely unjustified.

Mahindra Marazzo

On September 3, Mahindra launched the brand new MPV Marazzo to fill the huge price gap between the compact and luxury MPVs as a mid-range option. The design of Marazzo became the talk of the town even before its launch as the Mahindra car photos were raging the Internet. The design, as emphasised by Mahindra, is inspired by a shark, which is quite evident from its hearty stance, beautifully-carved sides and floating roof along with flush mounted windows.  Chrome highlights are generously used at the front as well as rear, along with an anodised grill. It is worth noting that close to 55 % of its body is made up of high strength steel to add to its sturdy make. The interiors are also premium with the lacquered design and a frameless touchscreen infotainment system, which is a first in any of the Mahindra cars at present. The air conditioning is also top notch. The 1.5-litre common rail dual engine with a variable geometry turbo engine and 6-speed gearbox provide for a seamless performance. It is competitively priced at Rs. 9.99 lakh for the base model, which increases up to Rs. 11 lakh for the top-end variant.

Mahindra cars in India have managed to put up an impressive line-up of SUVs and MPVs in its basket across all price points and with its increasing concentration on the electric vehicles, future does seem bright for the third largest automaker of India. Of course, with new competitors, such as KIA Motors, coming soon to the Indian market, a lot is in the hands of the time to come!
