Yes you can go for Mahindra KUV100, if it appeals to you, it is a refined car, comes with a light steering which makes it easy to drive in city traffic conditions, ride quality is good on smooth surface but as per user reviews not much comfortable on bad roads and there is a bit of body roll due to height of the car. Claimed fuel efficiency of petrol KUV100 is around 18 kmpl, brakes have good bite. After sale service is quite good, I advise you to take a test drive to experience the ride quality.
Other available cars in this budget you can consider are Maruti Swift, Maruti Ertiga, Hyundai Grand i10, Toyota Etios, Honda Jazz, Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Baleno etc.
