About Mahindra

Quick overview about Mahindra Quanto

With an aim to strengthen its grip over the Compact UV segment, the country's largest SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra launched its first sub-four-meter vehicle in the form of Quanto MUV. The Quanto basically is a cheaper derivative of the Mahindra Xylo

Mahindra’s first ever sub four-meter vehicle, the Quanto is actually a Xylo with chopped tail. The large headlights, front bumper, fog lamps, front and rear door stretched up-to the C pillars are borrowed from the Xylo

The interior of the Quanto is all inspired from the Xylo. The neutral color theme makes it airy and bright from inside

Engine & Transmission:

Under the bonnet, the Mahindra Quanto has a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which also does its duty to the Xylo. Its 1.5-litre, 3 cylinder, 1493cc diesel engine develops a peak power of 98.6bhp @ 3750rpm and maximum torque of 240Nm @ 1600-2800rpm

The Mahindra Quanto comes powered with a 1.2-litre diesel engine that is mated to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox. The car offers a decent mileage of 12.4kmpl on urban roads and 17.21kmpl on highways, regardless of its heavy body and over-hanged aerodynamics

Braking and Safety:

The braking performance of the car is mediocre. So, we would suggest people to drive Quanto with conservative road manners even on highways

Performance and Handling:

The drivability and handling of the Quanto is decent. The mid-range performance is decent, but at high speed it lacks the confidence and the engine feels nervous

What do we think about:

High sitting position, cabin space, reasonably powerful engine and good ground clearance make it a superior choice over several hatchbacks, though it still isn’t as good a utility vehicle. Its competitive pricing could appeal to cost-conscious buyers

The Compact Utility and Sports Utility Vehicle are among the fastest growing segments in the Indian automotive industry. And Mahindra Quanto and Ford EcoSport are two new players that because of their competitive pricing become close rivals
