Mahindra Thar engine is designed to provide some serious performance figures and best if you are diving this car then there are only few chances that you get stuck in some places as good suspension system and ground clearance will do all its job. Mahindra Thar is not good in straight line running as engine is providing three digit speed only after putting efforts on but this car hits 100 km/hr in just 15 seconds which is good. Overall the acceleration of Mahindra Thar is very good as compared to other cars of its class.
The base and mid range variants of Mahindra Thar are fitted with a 2.5-litre MDI 3200TCL diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 2523cc. Its top end variant on the other hand is fitted with the same 2.5-litre diesel engine under the hood, which comes with a displacement capacity of 2498cc. Both these engines are cleverly mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box. This this motor enables the two wheel drive version to attain a top speed in the range of 130 to 140 Kmph. At the same time, it can cross the speed barrier of 100 Kmph in close to 17 seconds from a standstill. On the other hand, its 4x4 variant can cross the speed barrier of 100 Kmph in close to 15 seconds and attain a top speed of 140 Kmph approximately.
Mahindra Thar is a powerful looking car. The car itself has all its features very well equipped. This vehicle was not designed for normal road purposes initially, but for sports; hence the accelerating power of the car is also made very well fit for sports. It is suggested that the car is not good in straight line running as the engine provides with only about 130kmph speed. The car is capable of reaching 100km/hr in 15 minutes only. This this motor enables the two wheel drive version to attain a top speed in the range of 130 to 140 Kmph.
