Mahindra Thar is indeed the cheapest off-roader from in the country. Based on the age old Willy's Jeep design, the Thar offers 4*4 models and is a good selling car from this Indian manufacturer. The thing is, if you put a bit of extra money, you can get another product from Mahindra, the Bolero, or Scorpio and even XUV500. But they are more of a luxury off-roaders as compared to the Thar, which feels and performs well. The very name Thar is based on the Thar desert of India, which proves that company doesn't take the 4*4 badge lightly.
