Mahindra XUV500 comes in 11 diesel versions ranging between INR 12.57 lakhs and INR 19.28 lakhs. The single petrol version of the Mahindra XUV500, the G AT is available at a price of INR 15.64 lakhs.
2. What does the numerical 500 signify?
Mahindra and Mahindra has a different take on this terminology. They say that the XUV 500 is an abbreviation for a Crossover Utility Vehicle. It is 5 ‘O’ ‘O’ and not 500. The two ‘Os’ signifies the ‘oomph’ factor. The company opines that the Mahindra XUV500 is a Generation X vehicle.
3. What is the difference between an XUV, SUV and MUV?
The term SUV stands for “Sports Utility Vehicle” whereas MUV stands for “Multi-Utility Vehicle.” There is no such category as the XUV. It is a special term that applies only to this particular vehicle, the Mahindra XUV500. It denotes an SUV Crossover vehicle for the Generation X.
4. How is the XUV different from Mahindra KUV and TUV?
Just as the KUV and TUV are names coined by Mahindra to describe their vehicles, the XUV is also an in-house brand name. For the record, KUV stands for “Kool Utility Vehicle” and the TUV represents “Tough Utility Vehicle.” You will not find these terms with other brands. 5. How is a crossover different from an SUV?
The crossover uses a car’s platform whereas an SUV uses the truck chassis. It implies that the crossovers are examples of ‘unibody architecture’ whereas the SUVs use a ‘body on frame’ design. The Mahindra XUV500 is a Crossover SUV.

9. Does any variant of Mahindra XUV500 come with a 4-wheel drive?
At the time of the introduction of XUV500, no model had the 4-wheel drive. All the vehicles were introduced with front wheel drives. The company introduced the W11 (O) AWD with an “All-Wheel Drive” transmission system.
10. What additional features distinguish the higher-end models from the basic ones?
All XUV500 models come with features like tubeless tyres, flip-key with remote, electrically operated dual HVAC systems and so on. The higher-end models have additional features like puddle lamps, hill assist, sporty aluminium pedals, window chrome lines, side impact beams and other features. The top models come with diamond-cut alloy wheels, bonnet with hydraulic assist and disc brakes on all wheels.
