Break sucks really

Good looking car. But side fenders and front bumper made of fiber and not metal to reduce the weight of this car. This means that you hit it anywhere at any time, the whole piece needs replacement needed. Hence, what it means to us is take a more expensive all inclusive insurance.  Read More »

While I was trying to buy this car, I read these reviews which were quite demoralizing, but still checked with people who were actually using this car. Somehow everybody shared a very positive feedback about the car and I went on to buy this. Super car at this price and with new feature of Android Auto,...  Read More »

Mahindra XUV500 Overview

Mahindra XUV500 retains the ‘Cheetah-inspired’ silhouette while it gets a couple of cosmetic changes on the outside. Spruced up interiors brag styling changes and numerous additional features taking the comfort quotient to another level. Striking changes made to the exteriors are done in the front profile which now features a better sculpted bonnet marked by redesigned Z-shaped LED head lights and an assertive front grille. The clumsy front bumper has been revamped rendering it a more refined look.
The chrome trims around the new auxiliary lamps lends a tad flashy look which could have been modified to a much simpler one. 17 inch alloy wheels flaunt new design, also the rear view outside mirrors come incorporated with puddle lamps. Chrome work has been done generously which is visible around the window belt line and above the number plate. Cabin gets a comprehensive tweak, the new dual tone interior colour scheme featuring black and beige looks posh. Plastic quality is far better than before which is one major improvement in the cabin. Other styling cues such as sporty aluminium pedals and blue backlighting add sporty flair to the interiors. The Visteon-developed 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system looks much better now, all thanks to the thorough revisions it has gone through. Also the touch interface gets a larger display, a new rear view camera has also been installed. Mahindra’s new Blue Sense app permits the occupants to curb audio and air-con setting via their phones. Mahindra has also added a new variant to the model series, dubbed W10, this variant sits at the top of the line-up. Ranked at the top of the range, W10 comes fitted with additional features like keyless entry and go, an electric sunroof and a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat. Third row is cramped and does not offer much space to the passengers. There is no change in the engine set up and transmission, the SUV continues to derive power from the previous diesel motor, the powerful mHawk 2.2 litre diesel powertrain. Mahindra XUV500 price in India is placed very competitively as compared to the rivals. Considering the amount of space this humongous SUV offers and the number of equipments it has on board, Mahindra XUV500 price is very lucratively positioned. For more details on the accessories available on the XUV500 you can visit the Mahindra XUV500 dealers in your city.

Mahindra XUV500 Exterior

The Mahindra XUV500 pictures shown below gives a sneak peek into the vehicle’s modified exteriors. The fundamental design remains unchanged, which means the athletic outer stance is still the same. Base trim lacks the chrome inserts on the front grille, instead it gets black grille with black garnish. Projector head lamps with light guides are standard across trims but static bending head lights are missing in the base variant.
Newly designed 17 inch alloy wheels are fitted in the set of four on either side of the SUV. Alloy wheels are offered only on the W8 and W10 trims and the entry level trims W4 and W6 get full wheel covers. Ample chrome work is evident on the outside, the fog lamps with chrome bezel, window chrome lining and tailgate appliqué with chrome bezel. Other exterior features such as twin exhausts, roof rails and cladding strips lend a sporty semblance to the muscular SUV. Also the flared wheel arches add muscularity to the SUV. Body painted outside rear view mirrors can be adjusted electrically across trims but the power foldable feature is exclusive to the W8 and W10 variants. Also the ORVMs come with integrated logo projection lamp. Front and rear bumper also match the body colour. The outside door handles also gel with the body colour rendering uniformity to the exteriors. One of the elite features bestowed on the XUV500 is the electric sunroof with anti-pinch, this exclusive feature is inset only on the top of the line, W10 variant. Other two features like the intelligent light sensing head lamps and smart rain sensing wipers are devoid in the W4 trim only.

Mahindra XUV500 Interior

Cabin has been revised drastically, the dual tone being and black themed colour scheme compliments well the premium leather upholstered seats available only in the W8 and W10 trims. While the base W4 variant gets jacquard upholstery and W6 trim features premium fabric upholstery. Chrome scuff plates are incorporated in the entire range for the 1st and 2nd row except for the range topping W10 trim which gets illuminated scuff plates. Sporty aluminium pedals are again available only on the W10 variant. Icy Blue lounge lighting appears to be very soothing and lively. The 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat is affixed in W10 only, fully automatic temperature control is bereft in W4 which gets electrically operated temperature control with dual HVAC. Tilt power steering is also offered on the base and mid-level variants while the high end W10 features telescopic steering. For the convenience of the driver, a 6-way adjustable seat is equipped in W4 unlike the rest of trims which get 8-way adjustable driver’s seat.
Comfort features available exquisitely in the W10 variant include push button start/stop, passive keyless entry, voice messaging system, brake energy regeneration and electronic steering lock. Features that are missing only in the base trim are, glass embedded antenna, DIS in-built infotainment system, 2 tweeters on dashboard, voice commands with voice recognition and SMS read out. A 7 inch colour touchscreen infotainment display with GPS, USB (audio/video) Bluetooth audio, handsfree call, iPod connectivity and integrated music system with CD (MP3) is inset in the W8 and W10 variants only. The W6 on the other hand gets a 6 inch monochrome infotainment display with USB, Bluetooth audio, handsfree call, ipod connectivity and integrated music system with CD (MP3). Coming to the W4 variant it comes incorporated with the single row LCD display. Mahindra BLUE SENSE App, tyre tronics and e-manual are present in the W8 and W10 variants only. There are a whole lot of features infixed inside for the convenience of the passengers and driver such as reverse parking camera with dynamic assistdriver express-up window and anti-pinch, bonnet with hydraulic assist, driver express-down window, smart key with remote central locking, but these features are available on the top end W10 trim. Fitments missing in the base variant only include advanced intellipark, cruise audio, phone and phone and voice commands on steering. Standard equipments across the range comprise of power windows, remote tail gate opening, reading lamps in first row, mobile charging points in first row, rear wash and wipe, rear demister, follow me home headlamps, lead-me to vehicle lamps, flexi seat configuration for convenient storage, glove box with laptop holder, 60:40 foldable 2nd row, 50:50 foldable third row and flat foldable 2nd and 3rd row seats. There are some equipment that are present only in the W8 and W10 variants like 2nd row reading lamps, mobile charging points for all three rows, dpor ajar lamps, camping lamp, puddle lamps, driver express down window. Flip key with remote central locking is absent in W10 while conversation mirror is available only on the W6 and W8 variants.

Mahindra XUV500 Engine & Transmission

Mechanically there are no changes; hence the SUV remains untouched on that front. XUV500 is driven by the muscular 2.2 litre, mHawk diesel powertrain bestowed with the 5th generation variable
geometry turbocharger. The athletic engine yields maximum power output of 140 Bhp at 3750 RPM along with 330 Nm of top torque between 1600 to 2800 RPM. Mahindra XUV500 transmission used with the diesel motor is a six-speed synchromesh manual transmission. There is also an option for an all wheel drive system available in the W8 and W10 variants, otherwise the trims come affixed with a front wheel drive system. Nothing significant has been altered in terms of mechanical functioning except for the slight modification in the final gearing of the manual tranny. Mahindra XUV500 Vs Nissan Terrano- versus one of the desirable options in this price range, XUV500 houses a much powerful engine that promises to engender higher power and torque output.

Mahindra XUV500 Mileage

Powered by the 2.2 litre mHawk diesel powerplant in conjunction with the six-speed manual transmission is decent enough if not very impressive. ARAI certified fuel economy delivered by this version of XUV500 SUV is 16 kms in a litre which is decent enough. In comparison to the previous model, the fuel economy has improved slightly, it now up by 0.9 kmpl.

Mahindra XUV500 Braking and Safety

Braking system is constituted by disc brakes affixed in front as well as rear. Other than this, the SUV also gets pivotal braking features such as anti-lock-braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution. Among the safety features the SUV may not feature a string of safety fitments but it comes equipped with a few prominent safety features like dual airbags for driver and passenger, side curtain airbags, electronic stability program with rollover mitigation, hill hold and hill descent control, side impact beams and crumple zones for crash protection.

Mahindra XUV500 Performance and Handling

Since there have been no tweaks in the mechanical department, therefore there is no vital change in this department. This also clarifies that there is still room for improvement in the way XUV500 handles. Had there been a prominent revamp in the steering, dampers, springs and anti-roll bars things would have changed upside down for XUV500. However we can’t say that there has been
absolutely no change in terms of performance, the SUV did feel more responsive specifically at high speeds, but there is still a large scope for improvement.
