As Mahindra has launched the 1.99 litre m- Hawk diesel engine in Delhi, is the company expected to discontinue the 2.2 litre m-Hawk engine for Mahindra Scorpio and Mahindra XUV 500?

Mahindra launched the 1.99 litre m- hawk diesel engine in Delhi as a result of the Supreme Court announcement on December, 2015. The Supreme Court issued a ban on registration of diesel vehicles that have an engine displacement of 2000cc and above. This ban is limited to Delhi and NCR only. As a result of this Mahindra launched the new 1.99 litre m- Hawk diesel engine for its two most selling cars, Mahindra Scorpio and Mahindra XUV 500 in Delhi. The new engine develops 120bhp in the Scorpio and 140bhp in the XUV 500.
I can’t exactly say whether the company will stop selling the 2.2 litre m- Hawk diesel version of the two cars in rest of the country as there is no official news about that from Mahindra. Therefore, it is something that we will need to wait and watch for. However, I advise you to contact your closest Mahindra dealer to know more details that will be specific to the city where you reside.
