Mahindra XUV500 W3 Description
The new Mahindra XUV 500 W3 being the base variant has replaced the W5 trim in the XUV500 line-up. It has narrowly undercut its competitors Tata Harrier price at 12.28 lakhs (Ex-showroom). Talking of the exteriors, the XUV500 W3 features a wide list of changes when compared against higher trims. The design of the car resembles a cheetah inspired look. The exteriors miss out on all of the chrome inserts and black body cladding. The front fascia resembles close to its top trims with highlighting the difference that the headlights is no longer offered with LED DRLs, no front fog lamps and the chrome grille is duly replaced with a grey finish one. Talking of the side stance, the XUV500 W3 drives on 17-inch steel wheels in the absence of hub-caps whereas the black accents on the pillars been removed too but it is offered with an electrically adjustable ORVM (not power folding). Talking of the rear, there are no wiper and washer.
The Mahindra XUV 500 W5 interiors feature a 6-way manually-adjustable driver seat, second-row seat in 60:40 split, third-row seat in 50:50 split design and Jacquard fabric upholstery used for the seats. The XUV500 W3 receives fully-black interiors but does not receive soft-touch materials. However, it is not offered with an audio system, unlike the W5 trim. The electrically-operated dual HVAC delivers efficient cooling/heating effect in the front and rear and the utility features of reading lamp for the first row, mobile charging point in the first row, all power windows and glove box with laptop holder add to the convenience of users.
The Mahindra XUV 500 W5 is powered by a 2179 cc 4-cylinder diesel engine with 6th generation eVGT (Electronically Controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger) which produces a power output of 155 PS at 3750 RPM and torque of 360 Nm at 1750-2800 RPM. The transmission system is the 6-speed automatic transmission with the drive connected to the rear wheels.
The Mahindra XUV 500 W5 mileage ranges at 16 kmpl as per the ARAI claim. The Micro-hybrid technology is consumed for yielding better mileage and reducing the loss of fuel due to frequent start and stop at the road signals and slow moving traffic. On average, a mileage of 13 kmpl in the city and up to 15 kmpl on the highway can be reliable.
The Mahindra XUV 500 W5 braking system has ventilated disc brakes with caliper in the front and disc brakes with caliper at the rear. Talking of the safety system, 2 airbags, ABS with EBD is evident. The strong build quality with crumple zone design for crash protection assures protection for all seat occupants from collision impacts. However, it misses out on reverse parking sensors and speed alert system but will be added post 1st July 2019 as it will become a safety norms mandate by then. The safety features of lane-change indicators and digital engine immobilizer assist for safe handling and protection of the vehicle against theft attempts.
