Mahindra XUV700 Preview

Mahindra pulled the wraps off its G4 SsangYong Rexton at the Auto Expo 2018, which will reportedly be sold in India under the XUV700 nameplate. The home-grown auto giant is expected to introduce the SUV later this year between August and November. Set to enter the premium SUV segment, the Mahindra XUV700 will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in that space. To get an edge over rivals, Mahindra is expected to price it competitively. That said, the Mahindra XUV700 price in India is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 22 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.

Based on the Rexton facelift, the Mahindra XUV700 2018 will receive certain tweaks for the Indian market. These visual changes are likely to be made in front in tandem with other Mahindra models in its range. As for the Mahindra XUV700 images, it shows the subtle changes made to the premium SUV. Among the changes, it was seen with the quintessential Mahindra grille with its logo. Similarly, it gets the Mahindra badge at the rear.

The cabin is expected to be spacious and comes equipped with a bunch of comfort goodies including a 360-degree camera, sunroof and a power tailgate. Besides, expect Mahindra to carve in multiple storage points inside the cabin and a large boot for storing luggage. The seats are also expected to come wrapped in premium leather upholstery. In addition, the Mahindra XUV700 feature list is likely to include a large infotainment system too.

Mahindra XUV700 Engine & Transmission

The Mahindra XUV700 specifications are likely to comprise a high displacing 2.2-litre engine. Unlike Mahindra’s other SUVs that run on an mHawk engine, the premium XUV700 will reportedly use a diesel engine developed by Ssangyong. In terms of power, it will make 178bhp along with 420Nm torque. Transmission duties are likely to be carried out by a seven-speed automatic unit sourced from Mercedes Benz. It will additionally come with a four-wheel drive system.

Likely to be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine by Ssangyong, expect the all new XUV700 to return impressive mileage. It is expected that the diesel engine could return around 15km/l of fuel economy.

As for the safety, the Mahindra XUV700 2018 will be armed to the teeth with features such as nine airbags, anti-locks-braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, ESP and traction control among others.

Coming from the stables of Mahindra and deriving power from the high capacity 2.2-litre diesel unit developed by Ssangyong, the XUV700 is expected to perform in line with other models from the home-grown carmaker.
