Mahindra Xylo D2 BS-IV Description
Mahindra Xylo D2 BS IV variant is positioned one rung above the D2 BS III trim in Xylo’s squad. Presence of BS IV compliant engine in the variant varies it from the D2 BS III trim and hence is also the reason behind the marginal bump in price. The D2 BS IV trim is available for Rs 8.06 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). D2 BS III offers a capacious cabin that has the capacity to accommodate seven adults comfortably. Power comes from the high displacement 2.5 litre, four cylinder, CRDi diesel engine compliant with BS IV emission norms. Fuel efficiency proffered by the D2 BS IV trim is marginally more than the trims powered by the 2.2 litre diesel engine. To restrict the price within affordable limits, Mahindra has excluded many features from the entry level D2 BS IV variant such as chrome embellishment in front and rear, alloy wheels, steering mounted controls and ABS with EBD along with several other fitments available in the mid and high level trims.
Mahindra Xylo D2 BS-IV ExteriorStyling quotient has gone up though not drastically but yet the new generation Xylo offers much better exterior appeal compared to its previous version. The boxy image is gone now, however D2 trim lacks various styling cues present in the other variants in the model series. Body coloured front & rear bumpers, door handles, front grille and outside rear view mirrors have been replaced by the unpainted (black) and sombre avatars of the forenamed features. Sporty side body graphics and rear decal, new chrome highlights in front & rear, wheel caps and footstep with integrated front mud flaps are missing in the variant. Instead of the wheel caps, D2 BS IV gets silver painted rim which looks extremely simple. Styling cues available on the variant include wheel arch cladding and air-dam with fog lamp insert.
Mahindra Xylo D2 BS-IV InteriorInside the cabin, premium black and beige dual-tone colour theme is enveloped which matches with the flat bed seats covered in PVC. A string of features are inset in the cabin such as black center bezel, mobile charging points on the centre console, sunvisor for driver and passenger, courtesy lamp, HVAC, surround cool dual ACs, best-in-class AC vents, power tilt steering, central locking, illumination key ring, half floor console and remote fuel lid opener. Roof console for spectacle holder is available as an optional provision. Other than the forenamed equipments D2 comes devoid of a number of other equipments such as power windows, steering mounted audio and cruise control, voice command technology, rear defogger and 2-DIN audio system and a host of others.
Mahindra Xylo D2 BS-IV Engine & TransmissionPower is supplied via a 2.5 litre mDICRDe, CRDi, BS IV compliant diesel engine delivering pinnacle power of 95 PS at 3600 RPM and top torque of 218 Nm between 1400 to 2600 RPM. A NGT520V1 five-speed manual tranny works in conjunction with the diesel powertrain.
Mahindra Xylo D2 BS-IV MileageMahindra Xylo D2 BS IV trim is claimed to return an ARAU certified fuel economy of 14.88 kmpl.
Mahindra Xylo D2 BS-IV Braking and SafetyDisc brakes are incorporated in the front and rear gets drum brakes, what is missing is the prominent anti-lock-braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution. Safety equipments inset in the D2 BS IV variant includes engine immobilizer only. Prominent safety fitments like airbags for driver and co-passenger and intellipark reverse assist are not available in the variant and are restricted to the high end trims.
Mahindra Xylo D2 BS-IV Performance and HandlingThe robust 2.5 litre, diesel engine delivers up to the mark performance however it does get a low rank on the scale of satisfaction on the handling front, it lacks the much needed punch.
