Mahindra Xylo features M hawk 2179cc engine deliveing 120PS power and Torque of 280NM. ARAI claimed mileage is 14.2kmpl. In city road conditions you can expect upto 12kmpl and in highways it can go upto 14kmpl. Maintenaining car in perfect condition ie scheduled repairs, perfect condition of brakes, tyre pressure etc matters. Even using AC would exert bit additional load on engine power resulting in slight reduction of mileage. Maintaining consistant speed and driving in top gear would yield best possible mileage figures too.
Mahindra Xylo comes in many variants with different engine specifications which defines different mileage. D-class comes with a 2.5 Liter CRDe engine which can provide a mileage of 14.95 kmpl for BS-III system and 13.9 kmp for BS-IV system. BS-III and BS-IV are fuel emission systems. H-class comes with 2.2 liter mHawk engine which is said to provide an average of 14.02 kmpl on highways. Actual mileage will be slightly lower than figures stated above due to non-idealistic situations. Fuel tank capacity for Mahindra Xylo is 55 liter.
The all new Mahindra Xylo is sturdier and heavier than the Scorpio or the XUV 500. It has got enough space for luggage and to seat eight people comfortably. Moreover the engine is late to respond makes it annoying for the driver. The mileage thus comes as a sum factor of all the above features. It gives around 11-12kmpl in the city roads and touches around the 15 mark on highways. The fairly large tank of the Xylo can hold up to 55 litres of diesel. Being a heavy car its can be said it’s fairly fuel efficient than others.
